How soon should I book BCV with rented points?

Hello, newbie here (post #1)!

We're on our first vacation to WDW and have heard so many good things about renting DVC points that we would like to do so. Trying to find out and understand as much as I can about the whole process (yes, I know trust is integral between two parties as it is often stated).

One question I've been asking myself and not found the answer to is: How late should I wait to rent points from a DVC member if we would like to book BCV for 9/10/2007 for just three nights? We're not particular to one resort or another although the man made beach at BCV has me drooling! :slurp:

Does it work just like a hotel reservation where first come first served? I know September is not a high demand month either. Does that help us when it comes to waiting a little longer before taking the plunge?

If anyone has been through the process of renting points successfully and can give me some pointers, I would appreciate that as well.

Ideally for the smaller DVC resorts, you should try to rent between 7-11 months out from a member who owns at that resort. That way you get the home resort priority window in your favor. Since you're past that stage anyway, I'd suggest ASAP. Since you're within 7 months you can rent from any DVC owner, they don't have to own at BCV.

Making reservations using points is just like a hotel, once it's full it's full, and you get put on the waitlist.
