How much longer do you think the Magic & Wonder will be in use?

I've heard rumors that they might not be in use much longer bc of their ages. I've never been on either and would love to before they're out of commission. What do you think?

Maybe when they reach the point of like an old car…?
You know, when repair/refurb costs become more prohibitive then just taking on payments for a new one…?! 🤷‍♂️
I agree. The Magic and Wonder [and Dream and Fantasy] are pure profit making machines so they will be in use until the cost to maintain becomes too much and I don't think that will happen until at least the end of the decade. If they planned to retire them following the 3 Wish class of ships we would have known by now. Also they wouldn't have needed to create a new private island if they were only increasing their US based fleet by a net of 1 ship.

Both ships are maintained to a far higher standard that most comparable cruise ships of their age so I'd assume they have less underlying issues than comparable ships. I have wondered how often if ever things like engines are ever fully replaced? Does this ever occur? Do they have an estimated life span? Or do they just maintain/update them piece by piece over time?

My only other theory is they over expand with the four additional ships recently announced that are due by the end of the decade and decide to retire the Magic and/or Wonder in order to decrease the fleet size.

Yes
I can only assume that 1 or 2 of the 4 new announced ships will be replacements for the magic/wonder. They're not supposed to be complete until 2031 so we've got time

This picture, which was produced by Disney, shows 13 ships in the fleet. So there are 5 ships now, including the Magic and the Wonder. There are 3 more coming in the Wish Class (Treasure, Adventure, Destiny). That makes 8. And there's one more already in the works strictly for Japan. That's 9. And the D23 announcement for another 4 ships by 2031 makes a total of 13.

So I think (I hope) it's safe to assume that the Magic and Wonder will remain in the fleet until at least 2031, since they're represented in Disney's own rendering of the fleet.

It wouldn't surprise me if they were taken off of their current itineraries and re-assigned to a new one, or maybe get incorporated with Adventures By Disney somehow.

I expect they'll be sold to a smaller cruise line long before they're scrapped.
