How much does a successful IP's budget go towards sponsoring a ride as a promotion?

So, I've heard it said that when a movie comes out and you see the characters from that movie show up for a short bit (e.g., the Emotions from Inside Out in a parade, or a short-lived Doctor Strange streetmosphere), then that is there at the expense of the movie's promotion budget, and doesn't cost the parks anything (or not that much).

But, what about the re-skin of ToT in Anaheim? There's another GotG movie coming out. How much of that re-skin is from the hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars GotG made as a 'promotion' for the continuation of their movie franchise... if any? How much is Cameron kicking in from Avatar bullion to Pandora as a promotion for his sequels... if any?

Good question. Would be fascinating to see how such a large brand spreads costs around its many different units.

If it happened during the films initial theatrical run like the Dr. Strange M&G then it comes out of the films promotion budget.

Something like GotG, Disney would have to pay Marvel to us the IP.
