How much do CMs make? ($$$$)

Just wondering if any of you CMs will share how much CMs are paid at WDW. I have it in the back of my mind that I could move my family to Orlando, teach full-time then work as a CM during the summer.

:hammer: :sohappy:

cast member pay varies on the job, but to start part time you start at $6.70 and then annually get a 2%-3% raise, full time you aslo start at $6.70 i am not sure of the raise percentages however. These wages are for hourly cast members most in the parks. Other positions such as characters and reservation sales vary you could contact the casting center or someone else could reply with other wages.

Disney is NOT known for paying well...

that being said, most hourly CM's, starting out, will make under $7/hr...

Security, transportation (read: BUSSES... not Monorails or Watercraft), and research are some of the more highly paid hourly roles, at over $8/hr

Also, Teachers in Florida are also grossly underpaid

Well, 1st year teachers aren't paid well in Florida. My g/f teaches in Lee County (SW Florida) and is getting paid $28K/yr. Well, she was offered a job in Collier County (just south of Lee County) and will be getting paid $33K/yr. Well, she just got a phone call saying that she'll be teaching in Lee County next year (Cape Coral) and will be getting $35K/yr. Nice negotiating skills! If she keeps it up, maybe she can push for $40K/yr. :) Hmmm.

Working at Disney isnt measured in pay rate or salary as long as you make someones day magical thats all the pay you need :)

Did anyone sense the sarcasm?

People get paid less in Florida b/c the cost of living is lower there, right? I work as a part time cashier here in Maryland and make $13/hr, but its relative b/c you can't rent a little studio apartment for less than $1,000 a month here.

When I was a CM here in NYC several years ago, our pay rate was based on the cost of living in Burbank. So we got paid next to nothing. Fortunately, I was still in school at the time and didn't have an apartment to pay for, but I just can't see how anyone in NYC can make enough to survive on the Disney pay rate. I hope they pay something more appropriate for the cost of living here since I left that job about three years ago.

What part of Maryland do you live in? I live less than 2 miles from NW DC and pay $895 a month for a 650 sq ft. Studio... all utilities paid.

How about managers?

With all the money I spend at Disney, I would have hoped that more of it would be going to the cast members, but I guess I should have known better. I think that from now on I'll appreciate how good many of them are even more, knowing that it's certainly not all just about that money.

There's been much discussion of the hourly rate positions, but how about management? Imagineers? etc.?

I live in Annapolis... I live at home, though. My aunt lives in an 2 bedroom apt. here and pays $3,000/month- I can't imagine throwing away that much $$ every month.

What kind of jobs can you get at WDW w/a bachelor's degree? I'd like to work in human resources or something, I wonder how much that would pay. -Stephanie

One of the reasons Disney is able to pay so low is because they will always have people who will be willing to work for them for such little pay. If someone complains, they will say "fine, we will just hire one of the many thousands of other people who will work for that amount."

They also hire the Disney-Nuts because not only will they work for next-to-nothing (just to work for the company) but since they love the company so much, they promote the Disney name for them. It's a circle that never ends. At lease the cost of living in FL is much lower than here in the Detroit area. I'd like to move down there and work for them but I also know that my CM job will only be part time because I could not afford to live otherwise. I'd need a full time job elswhere or I'd try to go for one of the better paid possitions in the technical areas.

Its not like these are highly skilled or technical jobs here people. I dont understand why people think that they should get paid so much money for sitting people on rides and so forth.....
