How many Trains are running right now?

The park today is currently not busy and the wait for the Disneyland Railroad is 25 min, this is up from 20 min when it is busy. Is there only two trains running currently?

I was actually wondering the same thing.

It's been awhile since I've been to the park, but in 2018, suddenly there were decent waits to get on the train at Main Street-something I hadn't remembered before.

That, plus the longer waits I've seen recently, makes me wonder if they've been skimping on train capacity over the past few years.

On Tuesday they were only running two. They had just closed the gates of the Main St. station when I approached the queue and the next one was in ToonTown. The parks hours were 9-9

I highly question that.
It is what the train conductors told me, so I assume they know what they are talking about, apparently has to do with the amount of space they are required to have between trains or such, I didn't understand all of the technical reasons.

Hmmm....

Thank you for sharing that. I don't have the actual figures, but it doesn't seem like a significant length of track was lost (if any) in the re-routing for GE.

It wasn't shortened.. it was increased. The problem is that the stations are not equidistant and the new length between NOS and Toontown takes so much time, that adding additional trains means one has to sit and wait at a station for the block ahead to clear. With four trains, this can happen so frequently that the capacity is the same as just running three.

It was just enough that was lost (as you said, it isn't much) and probably has to do with sensor locations as well.

Before GE, remember when the engineers used to book it from New Orleans Square to Toontown? I swear they'd go faster than they were supposed to..
