How long?

Does anyone know how long it typically takes to hear back? I applied for a few administrative positions (low level assistants) this week and am wondering if anyone knows how long it takes before they contact you, if at all.

I still have a position I applied for months ago that is still in the "submission" stage. I take it the silence is a polite way of saying, thanks but no thanks!

Most professional roles are filled within a week or two of being posted, so if you do not hear it is likely the role has already been filled.

I posted for a position and had a friend get said role within 3 weeks, but I didn't get my decline letter until several months later. Luckily I knew it had already been filled since I knew who got it, so I didn't stress myself out during the wait. It's a horrible waiting process.

DH posted for a role, interviewed and had the offer before the role was even taken down from the career website (whole process was less than 2 weeks). Of course he was internal and had already been targeted for the role, so he posted the first day it was up.

Anytime I get an interview it's within a week of the posting coming down. The only exception is related to management roles, which is a different process.
