How long does it take you?

How long does it take you to get over your vacation and accept the fact that you're home and are able to get on with your life again? I mean I know no one ever gets over wanting to go back... but I mean, when you first get back its devastating... how long does it take you to get back into your normal routine basically?

Me, it takes roughly a week, and for one reason... everyday... EVERY SINGLE DAY... I say to myself "this time last week I was in _____"; at this very time last week I was in Typhoon Lagoon... and I just say this everyday until finally I can say "this time last week I was home..." and then its like... alright, its officially over, its come, its gone... so long... back to life.

At least Madden came out yesterday to help me cope with being home from Disney, and my brother is getting married this Sunday to help a bit too (and I'm best man).

How long until you can get over it and get back into your routine?

Still Trying

Well, I haven't been there in about 6 months, and I am still trying to get over the trip. 160 days ago right now I was riding.....:p But honestly, it takes about 2 weeks. Get over the shock I am back home, and getting back into my routine.

Hum.....get over it. Mine was a year ago and I still am not over it. My next trip is in 16 days and we are in the "in so many days we will be....."

We started talking about the next trip while we are there. We comment about it all year long.........

One of the unintended benefits of driving to WDW for us is the nice post-Disney acclimation time it allows for on the way home. Its a two day drive with one hotel overnight. That return road trip allows all of us to accept the fact the vacation is over and its back to real life once we're home. Plus we're all so glad to get out of the car after two days, its a bit of a relief to finally be home. That's not to say we still don't feel a bit sad when we finally hit the state line. But I can only imagine the shock of stepping off a plane and being back home within 3 hours. "This morning I was on Main Street USA and now I'm home". I wouldn't like that sharp a transition at all.

Also, as we always travel to WDW with other family members, we have a post-Disney party about 3 or 4 months after the trip to share photo albums/scrapbooks we've completed for the trip. That's always something fun we look forward too and helps ease the long term withdrawal a bit.

It takes me a least a week to get over the depression of being home. I hope its not just me....but I get really upset about being at home...its Disney depression I guess. Its been over a year since our last trip and I am definetly ready to go back. I think my husband is starting to get sick of hearing..."do you know what I read on the boards today." Hopefully we can start planning our next trip soon.

It takes me at least a week, and I do the "last week at this time I was . . ." thing too!
We were at WDW the last 2 weeks of October last year, and since I'm not going this year, those 2 weeks are going to be reminding me all over again, how much I miss it!
I know there are readers who have never been and will think we're just being incredibly ungrateful, but once you go, all you want to do is go back!

It varies depending on the next time I'm able to go back.

Honestly though, it usually takes me a couple weeks to get back into reality, though part of me always misses it, especially after you spend 5 months there.

I'd say it takes almost 2 weeks to get back into the work flow at work after Disney. I'm always saying to my wife, "I wonder what is happening at ______ right now?" I do that for a while and then watch the video of the vacation to get back in the mood. My 3 year old daughter still isn't over our trip from last September. It is a good thing we are going in 17 days to satisfy all our needs. :sohappy:

Well now I know I am not the only one that says last week at this time I was in MK...... I did this on my last two trips. It takes me about a week to get back into the swing of things.

It usually takes me about two weeks before I get over it....then, two weeks later, I'm planning another trip. Hubby and I are actually evaluating the prospects of going and working for the Mouse after our last trip.

Yeah it takes me awhile... I just went in March with my bf and now we are going again in less than three weeks.. we are very disney-spoiled. I paid for almost the entire trip last time (due to a car accident, I'm not rich) and he is paying for this one.

Usually what makes me happy is scrapbooking and watching old disney videos... especially the really old ones I have. I also like to send out emails of my trip to family and friends.

Yep, it takes me a while to get over the blues of returning home. In fact, just to keep a little of that magic with me, I wait as long as I possibly can to change my watch (Mickey Mouse, of course) back to central time from eastern time. How dumb is that?:hammer:

The jet lag after the night flight home takes my mind off it then the jolt of being back at work slaps me straight back into reality.
