How long before The Springs looks like Small World?

After looking at the pictures of the magnificent blue waters of Disney Springs, I wonder how long before the crystal clear waters make way for a lining of pennies, nickels, and quarters? I would hope that they have a plan to keep it clean, but I am reminded of It's a Small World and its mini fortune.

I seem to remember someone on this forum talking about DS servicing this problem regularly and clearing this out. Hopefully they donate the money, but more than likely they will just keep it.

We have been told a gazillion times that they donate that money. However, it seems to me that they don't clean it out often. I could swear that there is a quarter on the ferry dock that has been in the same place since, at least, 1983. But, that might just be my imagination.

When the boats start to bottom out on coins, then they might consider removing them. But really, if you think about it, the coins in the water would be great on PoTC-almost like treasure-"Aye, maties, there be booty under your boat!"

I'm sure its already started. Its funny that so many guests complain about wasting their hard earned money at Disney, then they throw their money away... after all its only some pocket change.

I've read that by the time Disney cleans out the areas of coins, many of them are so degraded by time in the water that they are unredeemable too.

I never understood why people put money into IASW. It's not a "wishing well". But, I guess you could make a "Disney Wish". I do hope they donate the money.
