How late are animals out at Animal Kingdom Lodge?

We are making dinner reservations at Boma, and we were thinking that 7:25 pm would be a good time for us. We are going with some first timers though, and we wanted to make sure that the animals would be out that late. I know that you can't see them in Boma, but we figured we'd spend some time walking around the resort. So, I was wondering, how late are the animals out at Animal Kingdom Lodge? Would we be able to see them after dinner, or should we go early if we want to see them?

Depends on time of year and the weather. Usually at least some animals stay out at night, but if it. Too chilly they can be brought in. If you stop by to see the animals before dinner, you should be fine if the weather is fine.

According to a WDW tv show about their resorts we saw yesterday on TLC, a VP (they all seem to be VPs) CM said the animals are out 22 out of 24 hours.

And those remaining 2 hours tend to be mid-to-late afternoon, when the animal care people are on-duty. I remember we had a late breakfast at Boma, went to look at the animals after we were done and most on the Arusha savanna weren't around.

Whether or not it matches their behavior in the wild, a lot of the animals at the Lodge have become essentially nocturnal.
The giraffes, especially, seem to be really active at certain corners of the resort at 2-3 AM. If you're ever coming back late from a park or something and have to go to the end of the Kudu Trail, keep an eye out for them.

We noticed the animals were actually more active at dusk/cooler hours and seemed there were more of them around. We really didn't see much activity in early morning hours. Do ask for the night vision goggles- you can see really well!

In real life animals are more active in the early morning hours but probably not what you think of as early morning. Early morning is sun up and a couple of hours after sun up.

The animals from hot weather places don't usually do much in the heat of the day and night tends to be the most active time for the animals or sun up sun down for sight hunters.
That was my point, but thanks, and yes, when we returned in 'the early morning hours' from the parks at 1 am or later, they were out, but laying in small groups resting, it appeared. They were pretty much down on the night safari too, except the giraffe. The same group slept outside our room every night. We named them. :D
