How is this, Deluxe Dining Plan, gonna work??

Ok, so we've done DDP for the last 5 trips. . love it! We were fortunate enough to receive a PIN for free dining in December . .:sohappy: My mom is joining us and our oldest is staying in her room. She is thinking of upgrading to the Deluxe DDP. Now, I understand that the child in room would have to upgrade as well.

When I inquired why she wanted to upgrade and reminded her how much food that would be, she said that she wanted to eat at more "Signature Dining" establishments (which I have no problem with :slurp: ). I explained, that would still be a lot of dining credits. Her reasoning is, she can just share them with us.

Now, I know, "officially" this is not allowed, and maybe this isn't a fair question to ask. . BUT. . If she wanted to do this, is there anyway that the restaurants would know she's "paying" for someone else? When we used our KTTW card for our dining plan, in the past, all we saw on the receipt was a balance of credits. Would our server know/care that there's only two people in that room and not five??

I don't think I would be able to talk DH into upgrading us as well $$. Her reasoning is, if she's willing to pay for deluxe dining, shouldn't she be able to use it however she wants?

I almost feel like a bad person for even asking this question, but I guess it's like the "leftover" credits at the end of a trip that people in the food court give away, why not have someone use them?

Credits are allocated on a per room basis - so her credits will be on her KTTW card and yours will be on your KTTW card.

They will be able to tell - they did with my brother and his family of 5 when they were split between 2 rooms...

When you're on the Dining Plan (of any kind), your room key will indicate how many people are in your room. (For example, my September room key said "DDP A03".)

You will not be allowed to use more credits at one time than you have people in your room. (Or in the case of Signature, two credits per person in your room) Whether this is just a rule that the CMs follow, or if it's programmed into the computer system, I don't know.

That's not entirely accurate.

Each KTTW card has access to all the TS and QS credits for the entire party. It's NOT that case that Dad's KTTW only has access to Dad's credits and Mom's KTTW card has access to Mom's credits. In fact, you can present *any* one of the party's KTTW cards at time of payment for DDP... for all in your party.

I don't really think Disney cares *who* in your party uses what credits, so long as you don't go over your allotment. For example, if you had a party of 2 adults and 2 adult-paying children, and one evening you decided that the 2 adults were going to have a signature 2 TS credit dinner, and the 2 adult-paying kids were going to pay cash at McDonalds (or whatever), I don't believe Disney would care or take issue.

You're simply using the credits you paid for.

At least this has been my experience...

What it comes down to is, I don't want her to spend that extra money and have it go to waste, or have problems when we go to "pay" for our meals.
BTW. . I seriously need to change our picture. . that's like two years ago at Pirate and Princess Party?? lol

That wasn't what I was saying. I know that the credits are pooled by room, and if all Guests at the table are in the same room, it operates as you describe.

What I was trying to get at is that the mother of the OP would have a room key that said "DDP A01 C01" (or something like that, if I'm interpreting how the OP explained their party properly).
Even if the Mom is on the Deluxe Dining Plan and has a ton of credits, they could *NOT* go to Le Cellier as a party of 6 and have Mom give her room key to pay for all 6 people. She would be limited to using credits for 1 adult and 1 child.

When I was in WDW last month, my roommate and I were on the DDP. We had dinner at Le Cellier with friends that live in the area. If we'd wanted to, we could *not* have paid for our friends' meals with our DDP credits, because our room key only said that we had 2 adults in the room.

For any single Table Service (and I presume Counter Service) transaction, you cannot use more credits than there are people listed on the card.

Again, in your example, Mom & Dad would be *two* adults, using room keys that say there are *four* adults in the room. No problem at all with that transaction. In fact, the two kids could use two Table Service dining credits in Downtown Disney at the same time Mom & Dad were having their signature dinner, if they wanted to. (as long as they had the credits available)
