How is there a recession when i can't get through on the disney phone line

I have been trying to get through to disney for the last week. How are we in a recession when I get an "all lines busy" message whenever I call?

You can not get through because everyone is busy cancelling their reservations because of the economy and the fact that the napkins are ugly, the banners look tacky, Space Mountain is being refurbished and AC is closed down..:fork:

Thats what I think but the way people were spending $$$ on stuff while I was there for new years makes you wonder. Besides I don't belive that the resession is nearly as bad as the media plays it out to be, with the way some people in the media portray it you'd think we were in the great depression.

if you're job is secure and you have never over extended yourself in terms of money, then you have nothing to worry about with a recession anyway. But if you're in an expendable position and you have multiple mortgages on your home, you aren't paying off your credit card every month, and/or you bought a Lexus when you could really only afford a Civic, then yeah, it's going to be a bad couple of years....

I hope that you're not in that case! But the economy is going to get worse before it gets better. The media outlets aren't lying about home values and companies failing and needing "bailout funds" and consumer spending being way down...

I don't think so my company is soon it's best business ever lately and showing no signs of slowing down. I belive we have seen the worst if you look at ressions historically they tend to only last 14 months. It's been about that long now.

Right now Disney is pulling out all the stops to get people into the resorts and the parks. The current buy 4 get 3 free deal is a huge success and quite a few people are calling for prices and to book. I talk to CM's at the DRC daily and they are slammed.

I feel sorry for people who find themselves in this shape.....like the Total Money Makeover man says "they spend money they don't have to impress people they don't like!" :shrug: This is why I teach my students that their trip to Disney should be part of a budget and ALL CASH....do not bring parents' credit cards...

Don't believe the media. Talk to some people outside of your company/industry.

Wow! "You have no idea what you're talking about"... doesn't even come close to expressing how out of touch you apparently are. Did you know that this is considered to be the country's worst financial situation since the Great Depression? This isn't just your typical recession, and you shouldn't expect to rely on historical recession trends in predicting the outcome of this one.
