How is it right before xmas?

I am going the week before xmas to disney world? Has anyone ever been at this time? Dec 17 -23, Is it packed?

What about right after new years eve? We are thinking about going for a week, new years eve and the following week. I know new years eve is going to be packed but what about post new years eve?

We fly in Jan 6. Other than MLK weekend, it should be somewhat lite ( compared to summer/holiday season )

Okay, I totally misinterpreted the title of this thread. I thought it meant "how is it right before Christmas," as in "how is it October already, and how is it that Wal-Mart already has Christmas items for sale?" You know, that kind of thing.

In 2005 we went from Dec. 17-23 and the crowds weren't too bad. It didn't matter which park we went to, each day got a little more crowded, but not horrible.

We were there the week before xmas last year and it was good, but don't go to any early opening park and you'll have a blast. We're looking to book a discounted group trip this year for the 19-23
