I didn't know the whole history here, maybe someone can help....i was watching woody woodpecker, and they were replaying the very first cartoons from the very beginning. And, for some reason, they were playing Andy and Miranda the pandas. And, Andy the Panda and Miranda were dating in this cartoon. I didn't realize that these cartoon characters were the second star after Oswald the Rabbit was taken from Walt Disney by Walter Lantz from Universal Studios. Do I have this right? I'd like to know more about the history about this...Thank you and have a wonderful day!

From what I understand, it was the distributor Charles Mintz who took Oswald away from Disney. Because the character was owned by Universal, they assigned Walter Lantz to continue animating the character. If you look at some of the later Oswald cartoons made under Lantz, the character looks almost completely different from the Disney version.

My quick Wikipedia search reveals that Andy Panda was created by Lantz after the Oswald cartoon series had run its course.

Thank you oh so much y'all. So wonderful of you all to give me all of that great information. What were the odds of me watching that cartoon, and liking Disney a lot also! 🐶
