How has Disney been a good thing in your life?

I just got done talking to one of my friends and it made me realize something. I just realized how much Disney has been a good thing in my life. My friend is one of those people who works non stop. So far, her whole life has been working towards her education. Which I think is wonderful. But she has never stopped. Except for when we went down to WDW after we graduated from High School. You could tell she was not thinking about school. For the first time I could tell she was really happy. Things aren't going so great for her right now, so I reminded her of how we had a GREAT time at WDW. And how I think we should make it a tradition for us to go down there, just the two of us. To spend time talking and enjoying the Happiest Place on Earth. I think we will be planning our trip soon. So, not only has Disney helped me escape from "the real world" when I go there, but it brings my friend and I closer. And we are going to start a tradition that will hopefully continue to when we can go down with our own kids. Disney has also brought my family together so much. Anyone else have any stories of how Disney has been a good thing in your life?

Without Disney, I wouldn't know any of you guys, which would be awful, because I would be missing out on so much.
I also think that if I'm ever sad, I can come on here and look at pictures that remind me of WDW and I just don't feel too sad anymore :)

It's weird for me to look back and realize that until 1996, Disney wasn't a part of my day to day life/thought process.

I had went 3-4 times as a child and loved it and always had fond memories. But then in 1990, after not going in like 8 years, I was graduating high school, my parents were going, I was old enough to make my own decision and opted to stay home (youth rebellion & having the house to myself for 1 week).

Fast forward 6 years later, my wife (girlfriend at the time) and my sister and her boyfriend went. Since then we went '96-'99, missed '00, but made up for it 2X in 2001 (and getting married at the Grand Floridian) and quick trip at the beginning of 2002 and then moving to the Orlando area later that year.

Now having and Annual Pass we go all the time (on average every other week).

The thing that really does it for me is remember when I was little what a UTOPIA it felt like to me. For the first time ever I felt detached from the world with no worries, no bullies, no school or tests, no going to bed at a certain time. Even as an adult and knowing more about behind the scenes and the world, it still has a Utopian feel for me. To some people that is scary, but why not experience that if you can?

Now I am always enthralled but the thought that Walt "cared". Sure he wanted to make money, but he CARED, he wanted a fun place to go, he wanted others to enjoy themselves. The attention to detail is something I always wanted, whether it comes to decorating my house or enjoying a vacation.

Met my wife at a Disney trip. (Oh wait, you wanted a good thing?)
JUST KIDDING SWEETHEART!!! :lookaroun

Without our high school band trip to EPCOT, I would not have met my lovely wife. Plus it is something my family enjoys to do. We spend a lot of good bonding time.

BAD THING ABOUT DISNEY:
Seeing my mother drunk at EPCOT on New Year's Eve.

I agree with Steamboat_Kevin, I have made a bunch of friends on this site just from sharing a common interest. And then to find some of them are my age and also interested in lighting and live theater or video production was even better. This [site,] has become an outlet for DIsney news, endless chit chat, and just wasting away boaring hours.

I have also made friends in my own school because of my interest in Disney World. My friend Lauren and I were introduced to each other after a friend shared to each of us that we both were disney freaks. Now we are going to be going to WDW together in April, and this will be the second time in WDW together.

I have also found that I find myself talking about WDW all the time. And while some ppl get tired of relating almost everything in "real" life to Disney life, it makes things fun. I mean I can turn everything into a disney thing. For example, I commented how much Bahamma Breeze (a restaurant owned by the ppl who own Olive Garden and Red Lobster) looks like a combo of CRB and Boma while dining there.

Disney has become part of my everyday life, its odd how it takes over you. At least WDWMAGIC can be our Disney Support Group.
