How Does the 180+ Reservation System Work?

I had a spur of the moment trip last year and hence it didn't matter how many days in advance I planned. This year I actual have the 6 months notice and I haven't been since they instituted the 180+9days reservation system.

Right now when I go to make reservations only I can only book out 180 days even with my reservation in the system. When I get to 180 days before my trip will I sudden be able to book 9 more days out?

Often people try and think of it as "190 days" when really it's "180+10". It does nothing to extend the overall window that you can book until you actually get to that 180-day point.

The FP+ system operates the same way, where you either can only see the next 30 days until you get to your 60-day mark (if you bought tickets separately), or you don't have access to any dates at all until your 60-day mark (if your tickets are part of a package reservation).

Thanks guys much appreciated. I figured that was probably how it worked but I always have my doubts that the system will actually the work the way it should ;)
