How does it (Riviera, new associations) work when you have some direct points as well as some resale?

Yes. Only your direct points can be used to book at Riviera.
Thanks! As far as you know, have people run into issues/glitches adding onto direct with resale (issues booking Moonlight Magic, discounts showing up, etc)? I own all direct points but am adding on with a small resale contract.

I remember pre Covid there were lots of issues where the MM booking system couldn’t cope people who had booked a stay on resale points even though they had the blue card.

Now that the digital card has the DVC Y notation I definitely haven’t heard the same complaints. Hopefully those were fixed.

There was also a bug with booking stays using borrowed resale points, but that too seems to have been fixed.

Thanks for heads up! I'm still a little nervous about it but I can't justify the extra $5,000 to buy these points direct. I guess I'm hoping as long as I don't stay at Riviera or use the exchanges that I won't notice any difference. I'm assuming when you book an eligible resort that there are no differences in the booking process (using points from both contract types)?

If you have the same UY and the exact same name on both contracts it should be smooth as long as you’re booking something all of your points are eligible for in a window all your points are eligible for.

If it’s not smooth, which based on the complaints on Disboards is rare but does happen, you should be able to get it fixed with member services.

I haven't yet for DVC stuff. Original OKW 2004 resale owner, PVB direct, and latest acquisition was resale CCV.

I do have same UY and names so under same membership. Never any issues since adding CCV. Still show at DVC-Y in my wallet.

I have a glitch when wanting to use my direct Riviera points at Riviera. The first time I run a search it doesn't pull Riviera at all, like it's not even an option. I think this is probably what it looks like to restricted-from-bookinh resale owners, you just don't see it. I have to click "edit search" and run a second search with the same dates and then it'll show me Riviera.
It's a weird gglitchbut I work around. It's seems specific to me because I've not heard other Riviera owners with the same problem, so my isssue isnt something I'd tell someone to worry about.

Regarding benefits Id look out for mixed direct and resale. I have two member numbers, one with direct benefits and the other without. When I travel in a stay under the resale points I just show my direct member ID for discounts and it's no problem, but for events like Moonlight Magic it matters, or so I've been told, that if I'm booked under my member ID not associated with benefits and something like Moonlight Magic pops up then I'd be ineligible. My direct membership doesn't transfer over to make me eligible, and this is due to how they word eligibility. If the same points had been in my *other* member ID then I'd be eligible. I've had some in MS tell me I should be able to book (because it makes sense), so it's a mixed message. Cautionary tale here is that when adding-on in the future and if events matter, try to avoid multiple member IDs with direct benefits in one membership but not the other(s). (Otherwise, multiple member IDs have other benefits like making multiple transfers).
