How does DHS display properties not held by the Disney Company?

I was wondering how Attractions Such as Tower of Terror, and The American Idol Experience get into the Disney parks. Does say FOX or CBS sponsor the attraction? do other companies bid on having an attraction of their own? How does it all work?

Well I'm not really an expert, so don't quote me on this, but I think that if Disney has an interest in making a certain attraction that another company has the rights to, that it pretty much just asks to make a deal with them. After all, a lot of companies advertise for Disney already.

It really varies.

American Idol - developed in correlation with Freemantle Media, the production company that own Idol (not FOX).

Star Tour, Indy - Both down with the permission of Lucas Films.

In both of these cases, they usually approach Disney or Disney wins some sort of bid and asked them to develop rides based on their properties. Disney signs a contract for the rights to use the names for x amount of years. Both companies make money off of it.

Twilight Zone is an example of just purchasing rights to use a name for x amount of years. Kinda like how Disney's Hollywood Studios was named Disney-MGM Studios. They just kinda buy the name of a franchise at a value price for a certain amount of years.
