i guess it's just my luck the week we go to Disneyworld tropical storm 9 decides to come along. :(
How do you think this will effect Disney? Will the parks close? I'm all fine with putting on a poncho and going with it. We do have tickets to MNSSHP Friday!!! I'm a little worried about that. It's our first time to the party. Any ideas.

I don't recall WDW ever closing due to a TS, only for the rare hurricanes that have managed to pass over Orlando. And even then it was only for a day or so.

Florida weather forecasts are notoriously inaccurate more than a couple of days out. So FWIW, here's what I could find for the coming week:

According to this, Wednesday and Thursday will be rainy but the days before and after show very low rainfall estimates. Thursday looks to be windy, too. Put on a poncho and carry on.

Parks will remain open. Be careful driving!

Tropical Storm Fay arrived the day we did one year. We were the first flight out of Long Island that day and the last. When we got to the park at noon, we heard the music for the 3pm parade. CMs were handing out flyers saying that should the have to close the park - here's the daytime parade. The parks never closed. It rained for 9 out of our 11 days. Strollers, wind, rain. I wish it were better for the kids since they were so little, but they never talk about it - in terms of the year the trip was "ruined". It's WDW. You will manage to have a wonderful, magical time. I would rather be there when it hits this week instead of work. Trade ya!

Just a suggestion (not to start a debate over plastic vs fabric) - If you're in the mood for a different kind of souvenir - purchase a Disney rain jacket. That's what we did this trip. The kids and I got adult small (since they're only in the men's section). They dry so fast compared to the plastic ponchos. They fold up nicely if you carry them into the parks. And - you have a nice souvenir to wear when you're back in reality. My son & I got this one - blue. My daughter opted for black. My husband got orange. They say Walt Disney World on the front, too (the arm is covering it).

It will be terrific, huge, something really great totally devastating. Try an umbrella or a Disney rain coat (plastic bag). Don't panic.
Sometimes it can be fun going to WDW on a rainy day.

I have not seen the rain jackets, but will look for one for a souvenir next trip! Before our trips we always go to the local "dollar store" and stock up on the two for a dollar ponchos. They will fit in your pocket and we just throw them away at the end of the day rather than trying to dry them. Don't forget to take something (like a cheap poncho) to cover any strollers or wheelchairs if you have them. Umbrellas are NOT a good idea in heavy crowds (your rain is pouring on somebody else) and much more trouble to keep up with.

A few years ago they had these really cool DVC ones and we almost got them but I decided not to. I can't tell you how many times since that I've been putting on one of those awkward Disney ponchos while kicking myself for not getting one of those jackets.

Flew in to Tampa at about 2 today and it was just rainy. The waves were crashing over the barrier by the bridge leaving the airport and it was pretty windy. By the time I got to BLT it was just cloudy but you could tell it had rained earlier. I got to the MK at about 5:30 or so and it was like a ghost town. I love it when it's like that. Then right before Wishes it came a TORRENTIAL downpour! It lasted about 20 minutes or so and now it's pretty clear. I hope that was the worst of it. They even sent a tornado warning to my phone. Hopefully the rest of the week it's clear. I'm here til the 10th so surely it will be totally in the rearview by then.
