I know that so many of you go to WDW quite regularly, while others are like me~once every so many years.

So it got me thinking...how do you make your arrangements? I know for me, its a big deal (because I do it so infrequently) I go out and get the guidebook, read all the pre~trip info, then get on the phone to 1~407~WDisney! Since we drive, there isnt much to do there other than following I-95 south for about 1100 miles :)

So, Im curious...How do you make your travel plans? Do you use a travel agent? Or Amex White Glove? Or are you a do~it~yourselfer like moi?

How do you make your travel arrangements? :veryconfu

Do it myself. Pick the dates, pick the resort, call DVC, watch for availability on Southwest.com, get plane tix, pick restaurants, call for PS, count the days. :D

btw, there's no more Amex White Glove. That went away when Amex gave up its sponsorship agreement and Visa took over as "official card" thanks to the new Disney Visa.

I have to book everything myself.

Use Orbitz for the Airfare, CRO for the Hotel (Awalys using AP Rates ;-) ) and then book the Airport Transfers, Priority Seatings etc on my own. I usually book last minute.
My up in coming August trip was booked only 20 days ago :)

I personally do all of the planning and booking. :)

Unfortunately, I also have to do the paying...:(

Guess that's why I haven't been in so long

I do it all myself.

Usually my trips are spontaneous, I tell my wife "Wanna do Disney this weekend?" and then we go.

The last few times I have given 1 or two weeks notice.

This next time, however, is part of my 15 year wedding anniversary, so I planned it out a month ahead of time.

My mum always does the booking as she knows everyone at the travell agents and so can normally get a good deals, also when my mum books the price I have to pay always gets rounded down to the nearest £100 :D
We tend to use a travel agent for our Disney trips as my mum insists on flying with virgin and so it's usually cheaper to get a package deal.

Well the kids and I do the research and all the planning. Then DH gets on the phone to do the rest. We have done it both ways...but usually end up with a travel agency, have a friend who owned his own agency. This time we booked thru AAA; for us this works out best.

Heading for the great escape.
Our trips are governed by the school holidays and as we both work dates of travel are very limited. The first thing I do is book a flight, try to avoid travel agents now as I find you can get better deals by going direct to airlines or with on line companys.
Hotel arangements i do on line using discounts that I find through places like this.
I do all my PS bookings when i can as I missed out a few trips ago and learned the hard way. At least I know I can get in at roughly the times I want.

You can never have too much planning. Remember the 5 Ps

Prior Planning Prevents P!sspoor Performance

Clemster, I fly Virgin and you can get between a 10-15% discount just by booking on line. If you go to a charter company their fly drives cost more than BA or Virgin if your travelling with kids over 11.

Family Planning

I'm the one who worries about the deals, the airline, the PS but the whole family sits at a table discusses how many days, hotel, if we get the silver plan or not. if we do get the silver plan, where do we want to eat for breakfast and dinner. Make the PS arrangements. This is an ongoing discussion all year. We go right after Thanksgiving every year, our favorite time. My children are adults so we usually stay in an expensive hotel because their day beds are great and my children don't sleep together because one is female and one is male so the day bed comes in handy. This is a yearly discussion. In the summer we barbecue, clean up, get out the books (birnbaum, unofficial and passporter) put on our disney music and we absolutley love it. I don't think we will ever get tired of doing it. Next year we might get annual passes and just go for long weekends and then the 10 days in December. It sounds better and better~:sohappy: :sohappy:

Basically, my dad and I do the planning ourselves. I find good rates or coupons on rental cars and reservations, and then he phones the companies. He consults me on what to do during each day, what tickets to get, etc. (he thinks I'm a walking Disney guidebook  ), and usually my whole family plans out where to eat and what resorts we want to visit. We've never been a 'buy a package, let Disney do the rest' kind of people, and it works best for us that way. :)

Not me! It's so much easier to let the Travel Agent do the leg work for me (I'm too busy). Then, when all the booking is completed (resort, air, transportation, etc...) I will sit down and make plans for PS, Tours, and others. It works out very well for me (TA does all the ground work and I do the finish work). But that's just me!!! :D

I did use a travel agent in the pass but this year I book
my trip my self. I did my airfare and Hotel I got my tickets
to the Parks at the Disney store and I save about 150
dollars.
