How do you get yourself excited for your Disney trip???

I am SO beyond excited planning my trip to WDW next year! I want to plan a birthday holiday with my twin sister for our 25th!
The only thing is....I'm the only one who wants to go at the moment :( My parents, brother, and my sister say no! Breaks me heart haha
But I know that with a bit of convincing I could get them interested! My sister I know would like it more than anyone else!
So tell me...how do you get excited for your trip? OR have you ever had to 'convince' someone else of a holiday to Disney World?

I get excited by planning year round (even if I don't have a trip booked), listening to podcasts, reading the message boards, and I even hope to start blogging myself soon. I have faced those situations where some in my party are not as excited. But the great thing about WDW is it offers a variety of different things. Just pick those things that you think the other folks would be most interested in, and pitch those things! Good luck!

Have the family members who say they "don't want to go" ever been to WDW before?

If not, they may not really understand what Disney World is all about -- perhaps they think it's "just rides," or "just for little kids." I'd recommend showing them some of the travel channel documentaries Disney has put out, or at least the 2014 WDW Vacation Planning DVD.

Some of the ways we get ourselves ramped up for a Disney trip are:
1 - Watching the WDW Vacation Planning DVD (the 2014 version only -- versions for a couple of years previous to that were very 'blah" and not exciting)
2 - Watching on-ride POV videos on Youtube for attractions like the Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain, etc. (this was especially helpful in soothing the kids' jitters before their first WDW trip -- they were braver about going on attractions when they knew what to expect)
3 - Watching Disney films and/or reading Disney books, so we were more familiar with the characters and stories referenced at WDW
4 - Looking at photos from past trips
5 - Making and using a WDW Countdown Calendar for the final month before we left. (Each day, the kids removed a tag covering [whatever-the-date-was-that-day] on the calendar and revealing the current number of "days left before we leave." On the back of each tag, I'd printed a photo and description of one of the attractions or restaurants we'd be visiting.)
6 - Perusing WDW restaurant menus and dining reviews online.

There is literally so much to do in Orlando, something for everyone, whether it is Bass Fishing, Motor Sports, Golf, Surfing, all you need to do is work out what button to press for any of the 'doubters', then report back to the Forum for help or have some fun digging around on the internet!
Honestly, the anticipation is part of the fun, so it is always worth helping your group on its way!

Have a lovely time getting excited!

I am always excited....

But I get my DH excited by getting my kids excited. If my kids start pestering him to go back, then he jumps on board with my constant willingness to book a Disney vacay. I get my kids excited by playing this game we made up called "The Disney Guessing Game." We play it at dinner. We go around the table and each person gets a turn thinking of either a ride or a character, and the the rest of us have to ask yes or no questions to figure out what it is. That game, plus watching Disney World-related TV shows really get my kids going :)

I honestly think about it multiple times daily. A lot at work when I'm doing mind numbing tasks on the computer. I work in pretty quiet office so my mind will wonder when the computer program we use is running slow. I'll get excited and having a huge grin on my face out of no where. I also watch the documentaries on it, check out the itinerary daily to see if I want to add or change anything.

For someone that isn't interested already (hard to fathom I know!) I definitely recommend that WDW Vacation Planning DVD. Another great option is to also watch many of the TV Shows that have been done on WDW (HGTV, FoodNetwork etc). Many times, once a person sees everything available (not just rides or characters) it begins to increase the excitement. If the person is a foodie, I suggest showing them menus for some of the amazing dining experiences available around the Resort complex. Looking thru others photos from past trips and reading trip reports can help a lot as well!

Even though we have been countless times and are all Disney fans, I still do many of these to get our excitement going for an upcoming trip.

Yeah! Just never take it off your mind!

Also what I do is create a YouTube playlist of music from the parks. It gets me hyped whenever I hear the Epcot Entrance loop or Hooray for Hollywood.

Also, the Trip Report section of these forums get me hyped.

I don't know if I "get" excited. I think it's a constant state of excitement that just builds and builds, and then reaches a crescendo on the day we leave to start our vacation.

I was excited about it since we booked in December. Now we're just over a week away and making lists and thinking about what to take along. It's real now.

As a Disney nut I don't need any working up. It's just a normal part of life for me. We are a Disney family so we all get excited although I am worse. Just yesterday there was a radio commercial advertising some Florida resident promotion and the "When You Wish Upon A Star" music got me excited more than usual. Perhaps order the vacation video and try to get them to watch it and see if that works for them.
