How do you capture Audio?

Just wondering how could I capture direct audio in the quality that a lot of loops have been presented? I work as a character greeter once in a while so I could make time to get some loops. Let me know!

Usually people use a digital audio recorder or a digital video camera. Some people have managed to tap the radio frequency line that provides the audio and taken it from there.
