How do massage therapists get hired?

I am trying to find out how massage therapists are hired at WDW. Do they go through casting as usual? Who would I contact? How often do they hire? It would be my ultimate dream job. I've already received the information to get my license in Florida. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Linda! :) I have an e-mail address for the person you need to contact that is in charge of hiring for the spas and salons on property. All spas and salons are owned by a company called Niki Bryan.

Here is the information.

I've actually talked to Ms. Richmond on the phone, and she's quite nice.

I've had my Florida License application filled out for a couple of months now, but have yet to finish it up. It seems like there are quite a few requirements that Florida has that my home state of Missouri doesn't. I'm worried I might have to take additional classes. Please let me know what kind of luck you have!

You're an angel!!!

I just sent an email to her.

What did she tell you? What are the qualifications they want?

I had a friend that lived in Orlando that went to massage school there, and she said she was told that there is a waiting list for employment at the Disney spas. Any truth to that? I would imagine this would be the ultimate job for many massage therapists.

I am not sure. I haven't called the Florida state board to find out. I wonder if its a pathology course in contraindications?

Linda...

The way she spoke when I talked to her it seemed like she was ready to do some hiring. She never said anything to me about a wait list. She DID tell me that the longest she could hold a job was for 2 weeks... so I should get my license first before interviewing.

If either of you find out about the medical errors requirement please let me know! I wonder if it can be filled through a corrospondance CEU class?

From what I understand, you have to have your school transcript approved by a school in Florida... But I'm not exactly sure how to go about doing this... if you figure it out please let me know! I've tried to talk to people on the Florida board, but I never got any good answers (or English speaking people... :lookaroun )

Yep, I think it is wise to get the Florida license first before scheduling interviews. It would be moot if they needed someone right away but their license wasn't in place.

I will give the Florida board a call, but it might be a couple of weeks before I get some time to do so. We are leaving for WDW this Saturday and its gonna be a busy week for me getting my kids and myself packed while trying to juggle work. As soon as I have some answers I'll post them here. If the board isn't helpful, I may try to contact an education director of a school in Florida for help.

Here's hoping we ALL get to work at WDW :sohappy: !!
