How did I get a photo from Dinosaur without Magic Band?

Was at AK today. I got home I noticed I had an alert from the app that I had a photopass picture from Dinosaur. I didn't have a magic band, just cards in my pocket. I rode 4 times basically in a row (once without getting off) and only one picture showed up. I'm trying to figure out how this was technically possible.

For real, though, was BT on on you phone, with Disney Parks on in the background? Weren’t they adding PP accessibility to MDE/phone app?
