How crowded

We just got back from 12 days in WDW and it was crowded, very warm and rainy. We usually go in September, but thought the first weeks of June might not be too busy, but more than September. But we were not ready for the crowds that were there. Fastpasses gone by early afternoon for most rides and rides kept breaking down. So we converted to AP and since DW won't have enought time to go back for an extended time this year we will head down after Christmas (12/27) not go to the parks until after New Years and stay through 1/11/14. How busy will 1/1/14 - 1/11/14) be? Also when do they list what rides will be closed for referb?

Thanks,
Mike

In my experience the parks empty out after the first all the way through MLK day. We have been able to blow through attractions at a kinetic pace from the 3rd on in the past.

You're going to love going at that time of year, the parks are virtually empty, no waits. Temps are cool but not cold (it's Florida). It's not usually rainy either, but it will take longer in the day for the dew to dry up. Refurbishments/ride closures are usually listed on this site from the tab at top: Info > Refurbishments; but also from Disney's site, as long as it's a planned refurbishment. That time of year, they are removing xmas décor so you'll see the crane over the castle, but I don't recall any major closures on a consistent basis (water park one year but that made sense). If I recall correctly, the marathons are around that time, we always enjoy cheering them on or congratulating them around the parks. It will be worth it if you want a nice relaxed day at the parks without the rain, heat, and crowds. Enjoy!
