How busy was Thanksgiving weekend in 2009?

Quite busy. I was there that Sunday which is when the crowds start to diminish and it was still incredibly busy. If you do go that time of year plan on getting to the parks before opening and if possible use the early EMH.

The day after Thanksgiving and Saturday were actually not bad at all, just sort of moderately busy.
The days before Thanksgiving and the Sunday after Thanksgiving are when the crowds were at their worst and the entire Resort was overwhelmed due to AP's being unblocked on those days. (Sorry Master Yoda, you picked a really bad day to go. You should have gone Saturday, because it was dramatically less crowded.)
You need to check the AP blockout date calendar on Disneyland.com and plan your visits for days when SoCal Select, SoCal, and Deluxe AP's are blocked out. When only Premium AP's can get in, the crowds aren't bad at all, even on major holiday weekends.
