How booked is VGF Now?

Just wondering now that non-owners are allowed to book, if VGF is mostly booked, especially during the holidays and first week of January. How do the One-Bedrooms look? Studios? Can any VGF owners check availability so we know the demand? Thanks

Reservations for non home resort members just opened up this am. I booked online for three days in January in a studio and the rooms were available in both categories as well as one bedroom. So I got exactly what I wanted. But that was about thirty minutes after reservations opened. It will be interesting to see what is left tonight.

We are excited though because we have never stayed in a monorail resort!

We got a 1BV standard view for first week of January, so am there for my birthday on the 9th - yippee!! No standard view availability now so I think we just sneaked in on that....a lake view would be lovely but too many points extra for me :-) I guess the marathon weekend makes it a busy time anyway, they know how to time it!!

I agree. The Lake View is a little too much. The standard view will be fine as long as we dont get a view of the parking lot.

I would think that as long as they are actively marketing VGF it will be easier to book the result for those that it is not their home resort. The reason would be that there will always be some unsold inventory that has been declared but no one has purchased. This unsold but declared inventory would than be available for those that VGF is not their home resort. So get while the getting is good.

That's my rational for trying to book it for a March trip. I recall BLT being easier to book at 7 months when it first started selling. Contrast 2009-2010 with our 2013 BLT trip, the stars aligned in that the only unit available at 7 months was the type and view we wanted. So hopefully I don't love VGF and want to stay there again, since I expect it will be very hard to book later on.

I stopped by the DVC sales office yesterday and the VGF model is REALLY nice. The sales guy (so take this with a sales guy size grain of salt) said they expect to sell out in about 6 months.

A couple of quick notes about the rooms there. The studios have a pull down bed under the TV so they sleep 5. The rooms seemed to be on the small side, but then I'm staying in a 2 bd at OKW so everything is going to seem small in comparison.

The 2 BR at OKW has more square footage than my old house:).

They always expect it to sell out fast. Oldest trick in the book.

In this case, I tend to lean in the same direction though. There are a lot of GF die-hards and there aren't that many villas to sell there. I would put the timeframe closer to a year to 18 months though.

We just went to see the model of the VGF rooms... There are only going to be 147 units.... I would imagine they will disappear pretty quickly after seeing how nice they are!

We went in June this year, did the DVC tour (the 2nd time in a year doing so), and were sold once we saw the model rooms for the VGF. We purchased only 100 points so not much to go on to begin with but we will be adding. Also, on the tour, the CMs asked us if there was anything they could do for us after we finalized the deal. My wife (the smarter one in the marriage) asked if we could have the special fast pass cards that they hand out from time to time. She asked if we could have 5 fast passes per card for each member of our family (5 in our family - her, me, D12, S10, S6) and they agreed to do it. It was great because the lines in June at all of the parks were long but on that one day we ended up with so many fast passes we rode everything we wanted multiple times.
