How big are the Laundry Rooms?

Doing laundry while on vacation has rarely been enjoyable. Last time I did laundry at WDW it was at the Poly, and I think there was a little room with a few machines and I had to make sure no one removed our clothes, etc. Are the laundry rooms at the resorts larger now? I would ask specifically about POFQ but that might be hoping for too much.

I think they tend to be bigger at the mods than at the deluxes. (I guess they think rich people just throw their clothes away when they get dirty and buy new ones.)

We've never faced any shortage of available washing machines or dryers at POFQ, Coronado or CB. Just guessing, there may have been 10 or 12 of each in the laundry rooms we've used. If I remember right the one at AKL was much smaller, like the one you describe at Poly.

^ Thanks. I guess since the moderates are larger they need to serve the laundry needs of more people.

Come on, where are the pictures, folks? LOL.

Oh, here's one!

This actually brings back memories of the room at the Poly - maybe it wasn't so different and not as difficult as I remember. This'll do!

I've heard they now just take credit or debit cards, not cash. Maybe someone else can verify that. As expensive as it is to do several loads of laundry at a WDW resort, it was actually pretty cumbersome to change dollars into quarters and insert them into all those slots. So credit is good.

The only place I ever did laundry was at CBR and it was a typical laundry room - on the small side.

People were literally standing and waiting for washers to finish so they could take other people's stuff out and put theirs in. I remember this my younger days, doing laundry in laundromats, so I was all kinds of ready. :)

Be sure to be there when your washer/dryer finishes or someone else might take your stuff out and put it Who Knows Where!

^ Yeah, been there! Used to have to do that as we've lived in a lot of apartments with no laundry.

Value and Moderates tend to have multiple laundry rooms, one by each pool. (Though this means POFQ only has one)

At CBR there is a laundry room in each village. (So there are 6 laundry rooms)
POR has 5.
All-Stars have 2 each.
Pop has 3.

I presume CSR and AoA hold true to this design, but have no direct experience.

FYI they have all new machines now at POFQ. They are very nice and it seems like they got more into the space now, but they do not take quarters anymore you need a credit card now. Best time to do laundry is mornings and early afternoon, worst time is evenings.

I've only seen someone else in a laundry room once, and come to think of it, that was the only time I ever saw any of the other machines running.

POFQ does indeed have new laundry facilities (near the main pool).

I found them quite spacious, and the machines worked very well (only needing one cycle per load, not the normal two or three dry cycles I've experienced elsewhere on property).

As noted, their new systems do not accept quarters or your KTTW. You must have a credit card to use the machines.

The prices are $2 for a normal wash, $2.50 for a "super wash" and $2 for 60 minutes of dryer time.

Here's a picture of the control unit where you pay / activate your machines

Here's a picture of the laundry room.

Both were taken about two weeks ago.

Beautiful - thanks for that!

You should be able to use a KTTW card or magic band for that! :)
Anytime.

And yes, I thought repeatedly that it would be better if KTTW or the Magicband was compatible.

Maybe sometime in the near future they'll do this!

I used the laundry room by the quite pool in the Ranchos section a while back. It was a good sized, similar in size to the ones in the photos above. I found the laundry room almost empty when I had to do laundry, a mid afternoon on a Friday. I had been down in Tampa for a week with work and drove over for the following week. I did laundry while my family was flying down to meet me.

Funny story! Staying at WL and wife asks me to do the laundry while she puts the kids to sleep. Was not really thrilled but figured,OK, put the laundry in and grab a beer :-). Get to the laundry room, which was a good size, and it full of husbands doing laundry, drinking beers and, watching the football game on the TV. I had a couple of beers and went upstairs to get more laundry :-).
