My 9 y/o daughter and I will be going to Disney in August and I am trying to figure out how to get to the hotel from the airport. We usually use a towncar service but I dont know if that will be worth it since there are only 2 of us this time. Is mears that bad? We will not be arriving in Orlando until about 10 pm if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

My plane arrives in Orlando at 10:44 this coming Friday, and I wanted to know if Mears is the better choice. It's all I've ever used getting to the resorts sicne there are several of us in my party. There will be 5 going on this trip. Does anyone know how late Mears runs.

Trishnh, I've never had a problem with Mears and I like their service. We never have to stop anywhere else, they take us right to our resort.

Scottie, as there are five of you it may be cheaper and more convenient to use a town car service. I've not used either, but I recal from past posts that if there are more than a couple of you the towncar works out cheaper.

Generally Mears is not bad at all. Cant tell ya how many times i've used them, but I can only remember 1 time when I was truly mad at them. That was back in November. Waited a little bit over an hour to get on a bus to POR. Usually 10-20 minutes. And when they tell you to be at your pick up spot at a certain time, MAKE SURE YOUR THERE !!!!!!!! They don't wait for straglers. Mears is not a bad option.

Mears isn't awful. My parents used to use it on our family vacations the first few times down there. Once my parents started using Town Cars, they never went back to Mears. The thing about Mears is that it will hit other hotels, not just yours if there are other people on the shuttle. Overall, I think that if there are just two of you, it'll be cheaper to go with Mears, but as was said previously, if they tell you to be there at a certain time, BE THERE!!! I've seen people get left at their hotel and have to catch a cab to make sure they made their planes. Other than that, it's not bad. I'd say go for it, but just make sure they still have shuttles running that time of night. When in August are you going? I'm taking my family and mother-in-law down from the 22nd-29th.

For two of you price wise it is the best choice. We have done Mears, a town car and rent a car. We don't do Mears anymore just because it puts time constraints on you as they have certain times they will come to your hotel and we like to stay until the last minute.

We have been renting cars and that is the most expensive and biggest waste of money to be honest. But we do it because we like the ability to have it just in case and also on our last day we will drive to the park (usually MK) and leave right from there. We hate leaving and want to have fun as long as possible. Also now we have small child and want to bring our own car seat with us.

For Mears hours, I would go to their website to verify but I know when we used them when we came in our on our honeymoon we did not get to our resort (Port Orleans) until after mid-night. So unless thing have changed you should be ok. The other thing was, even with that late night arrival we were on a van that stopped at several hotels (on and off property) on the way in.

I've only used them on one trip, but we had no trouble at all and never found it inconvenient. When we go back to WDW next summer, I fully intend to use them again.

Mears service has been hit-and-miss for us for years. This year, we're switching and I've booked a car with Quicksilver.

In the past we've had some very good service. Clean vans, quick pick-up, on-time retrieval at the hotel, etc. We've also had to wait for quite a while for a van/bus (on at least 2 occasions it's been close to an hour). Once they must've been so behind that they sent a bunch of us to the cab stops and put us in a regular taxi van. This was horrible. The van stunk, the driver was unfriendly, and it took forever to get to our resort.

Several times we've had late pickups at the hotel. We ended up having to call them once to ask where our driver was. Fortunately he showed up about 5 minutes later, but we nearly missed our flight out.

Last december was the last straw. We first had to find them. They had moved from the main level by the baggage claim to downstairs. There was one person working the counter and it took about 20 minutes to just turn in our vouchers for tickets. We then went outside and stood around. And stood around. And stood around. Over an hour later they finally had a van to take us to OKW. The driver was disinterested at best and had NPR absolutely blaring on the stereo. While I'm not one to criticize choice of entertainment, it was a segment on the war in Afghanistan and the people were talking in stark terms about gunfights and killing etc. All this blaring out in a van with kids in it.
No more. Once I grab my bags I want to be able to climb into a car/van/whatever and just go.
