How are the lines over Labor Day...really?

OK, we're planning to come down Labor Day for 2 reasons: one, requires the usage of less vacation time at work; and two, mousesavers.com says the lines are short because it's too hot. OK, I've been there on hot days and it's not THAT bad, so I find it hard to believe that the park would be bare with all those people on holiday. So I wonder if anyone has actually been to Disney over Labor Day weekend that can vouch for how busy it is or isn't.

Thanks!

My experience was 1993, so may be outdated.

That year, we made a 1 day unexpected visit to the MK, and it was not remotely busy. POTC was a walk on in mid-afternoon. We'd come from Panama City, and the tourist facilities there were already shutting/shut down for the winter.

In California, Labor Day is seen as the last bit of summer, and there is heavy travel. However, this was not the case in the south growing up in Alabama, and that was true up until at least 1993. Even in California in 2000, DL went to shorter hours, weekend only Fantasmic and such the week before Labor Day. A lot of schools start before Labor Day, so even people that travel are more likely to go somewhere for the weekend than trek a long distance to WDW. I don't know that it'll be as slow as when we were there, but it's not going to be the madhouse of other holidays like July 4, Xmas, etc.

Cheers.

I don't know about Labor Day b/c I haven't been any other time during the hot season other than June (I also refuse to go in the summer now).

But ScrapIron, you said that POTC was a walk-on in the afternoon during Labor Day. Everytime I've been to MK the POTC has been a walk-on. Could be just the times I go though (usually Jan-March)

have u been there on labor day or are u just guessing?

I've had my trip begin on Labor Day. I only did it once because of how busy it was. We went from 45min standby at MS to 5min the next day and the rest of the week. Quite a change.

I can't answer the question about the crowds, but I can help with the weather.
1. It is very hot in Fl in September. Temperatures during the day would still be in the 90s unless it is unseasonably cool.
2. The usual rainy season is in spring. (This year we didn't have one and I have to keep all magnifying glasses away from my lawn to prevent a fire of epic proportions:( ).
Fl rain usually is torrential but lasts only a short time. With your extended stay you might be subject to a day or two with some rain, but usually it comes and blows over within a couple of hours. The best bet is to hit some indoor shows for a while. Unless a system is in the area (depression, tropical storm, or the h-word). Then it could rain your entire stay and September is still in the season, but I wouldn't worry about it too much. I know we're going to be okay this year:animwink: If not-maybe you could send me some info on real estate in England.
3. Some people take off Fri for labor day weekend, so the higher crowds would probably be for four days.

Have fun!
