In "The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones" (which is awesome and it's exodus lamented) he appears as an OLD guy, with one-eye even, so he's got a lot of life left in him. Given some decent stories and a really difficult but critical recasting of the role, there's a lot of potential life in this franchise.
I've never seen any of the "Twilight" movies so I don't know if Pattison is any good as an actor, but I'm afraid that they are just casting him because of those films and not because he's 'right'. Personally, I preferred Indy to Star Wars, so for me this is a BIG deal.

If Disney wants to do a reboot of Indiana Jones, and that is what I keep seeing, then fine. Do it right though, and that will take a lot of work. Sparkly Vampire Boy would not even be my last choice to fill the role though.

Actually, I'm cool with Robert Pattinson. Once I heard that his portrayal of Edward was actively trolling the Twilight fandom he went from average teen heartthrob to brilliant performance artist.

I would like Ryan Reynolds, Bradley Cooper, or Jake Gyllenhaal for the role of Indy. Angelina Jolie as Marion Ravenwood.
A reboot of the series could go the way of Batman Begins or Man of Steel, showing the main story of the film in current time but showing his origins through flashbacks. Him studying under his mentor, falling for his mentor's daughter (Marion), his mentor's death, his father, his mother's death, the events that start the deadly rivalry between him and Rene Belloq. There's so many cool things that the already existing films set up from just the dialogue of Indy's past that they could explore in a proper reboot.
If they don't get Steven Spielberg to direct again, then I say get Joe Johnston. He has a history with Disney (Honey I Shrunk the Kids, The Rocketeer, Captain America), is great with period films, and Steven Spielberg himself even chose Johnston to replace him as director Jurassic Park III.

Not bad, but you'd need someone younger than Jolie for Marion. Remember, when she and Indy first got together, she was "just a child" (in fact, the original version of the script was going to play that statement quite literally, which raises a few questions about Lucas and Spielberg).

^ Yes, but they never said how Indy was at the time they got together. He could've been a "child" as well. She could've been 14 and him 12. They could play it any angle.
Also, it is a reboot. Reboots have a lot of changes and don't have anything to do with the previous series (i.e. the new Batman trilogy), therefore they wouldn't have to stick with the original ages of the characters.

Well, considering he was working with her father, it's implied that he's at least a grad student. Anyway, their relationship ended when he was 27 and she was 17.

The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull left off with Shaia LaBeuf (sp?) picking up that hat. I thought that made the most sense. Don't "re-boot" the movies. Just continue the story with the son, with Harrison Ford taking on the elder fatherly figure just like Sean Connery did for him in Last Crusade.
Despite his current image issues ("I am not famous any more" bag on his head), I think Shaia is perfect for the follow-up, next-generation Indiana role. And the setup would leave plenty of room for references to the older films, including cameos, right alongside new things. And we could watch him grow up as a baby boomer, which has all kinds of "Back to The Future" style of fodder for images and story.

Agreed. I'm one of the very few it seems that actually thought "Crystal Skull" wasn't horrible. Was it as good as the first or third? No. But I'll take it as a dead-heat tie with "Temple". At least there was no Short Round. Most annoying kid ever.

3. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
4. ... open space...
5. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
