What free things can you pick up from on site resorts? (e.g. pens, soaps).
What surprises or things to do are fun for kids when you stay in the hotel?

Not all that much in the way of freebies. I've got a bar of soap of two, they're in Mickey Mouse boxes and have Mickey's face on the soap bar. Of course, I'll likely never open them :hammer:

The cleaning staff often [always with me, but I can't speak for them ALL] will do up little scenes in your room while they're cleaning. My son always looks forward to getting back to the room to see what they've done. Sometimes his toys are set up in the window to welcome us back, towels shaped into animals, his teddy bear tucked into a stack of towels made up into a mini-bed... Always something nicely done just to make it a pleasure to come back after a long day.

We like to take a break during the day and go back to the resort for a swim and relax by the pool to recharge the batteries before heading back. In the evening, they have bedtime stories your kids can listen to or there are disney channels if they need a tv fix [or if you want to distract them while you catch some extra sleep in the morning :animwink:]. We've never been big on the stories or tv, we get back from the park exhausted and just have a bath and crash for the night:snore:. My son is up early, but I'm as excited as he is, so we start planning our day over breakfast while we wait [somewhat impatiently :lol:] for the parks to open so we can start it all over.

Yeah, usually we only bring home the bars of soap, and yes, usually the maids will set up some type of fun thing in the room, which is always a nice gesture.

We also end up bringing back multiple copies of all of the guide maps/leaflets that are left on the guest relations desk. We seem to pick a few up each time we get off the Disney buses, on our way back to our room.

Oh yeah, you also get to keep the room key, that is pretty cool too! :animwink:

Depending at which level of Hotel (Value, Moderate, Deluxe). Soaps, Bottles of shampoo, bottles of hand cream, shower caps (in Mickey boxes). I've also gotten "Walt Disney World Resort Hotels" pens. Also, Info packets that you get at check-in.

Towels... Pictures off the walls... Almost a TV but couldn't fit it in the trunk of the rental car!!:animwink: :lol:

All kidding aside.. We usually come home with one of each of shampoo, soap, and a pen. On a daily basis, our maid turned our hand towels into different animals, roses, etc.. making each day we returned from the parks just a little more magical!!

soap, shampoo, lotion, showercaps, pens, stationary, the resort bulletin given to you at check-in, do not disturb signs, the little tri-fold stand-up things sitting on the table that advertise restaurants & whatnot...
