Hotels.com question...

I booked a room at Coronado Springs for two of my friends who just now decided to join me for part of my trip next week (way to plan ahead, guys...). Strangely enough, when I tried to book the room through WDW, the only thing that came up was some ridiculously priced suite. I was able to get a standard room on Hotels.com for much cheaper, when according to Disney it was sold out. Odd.

Anyway, my question is, since I made the reservation and used my credit card, I assume I have to check them in to the resort, right? Will I be able to call and give them my friends names so they can get their name on the keys, or will it not work that way? Also, would Disney even have a record of the reservation yet, since it was booked through hotels.com?

I'll be staying at Pop Century that week, by the way, if that makes any difference.

Sites such as Hotels.com use a contract with Disney to block groups of rooms and then they resell them.

I am not sure when hotels.com would send the info to Disney for room assignment, probably not until 3-4 days before checkin.

IF your name is on the reservation, you will need to be there at check in.
In many cases the primary name on a reservation cannot be changed once a reservation is made.

If you want to make any changes at this point, you need to call hotels.com, not Disney.

Thanks, that's what I figured, and it makes sense. I had no choice but to use my name since I was using my credit card, which I wanted to do so I could get the "points" for the reservation (not Disney points...these are for airline points, which I redeem for trips to Disney!!)

I was planning on meeting them there that night anyway.

Thanks again!!

I don't think I've ever seen anything but "rack rate" on those kind of sites.
Was this a better rate?

The OP said that Disney was only offering them a suite, but Hotels.com had a regular room available. The rate was standard it seems, but they were able to get what they were looking for.

Yeah, sorry for the confusion. Disney was only offering the suite, at $400 some odd dollars a night. Hotels.com had the standard view room available, for the rack rate, which they didn't mind paying, since they made up their minds so late.
