Hotels close to the parks...

This is not entirely related to the UIoA parks but it is in some way...

My fiance and I are planning a trip to those parks next April for our honeymoon and we are looking to book a hotel that allows free transportation to the parks or that is in walking distance. The three hotels UIoA own are too expensive for us or we would book with them. So does anyone have any advice or experience with hotels that provide transportation to the parks?

Not exactly an answer, but do you plan on purchasing express passes?

If yes, then it can quickly become less expensive to pay for the onsite hotel and have unlimited express but not need transportation.

If no, there are plenty nearby and a few that SOMETIMES participate in the one hour early IoA/WWoHP entrance.

If you're looking specifically for a hotel near Universal Studios, then I have a recommendation.

We stayed at Best Western: Universal Inn at 5618 Vineland Rd, Orlando, FL. It is literally across the street from the main drive that leads into Universal Studios and is listed as being "3 blocks away." While the hotel is literally a block from the parks.. it's 3 to 5 blocks from the entrance where vehicles are allowed. We were going to walk (it would be a 10 to 15 minute walk) but it was super hot and we took a cab that only cost us $5 with tip. I also remember there being sidewalks along most of the road from the hotel. It is also located near several restaurants/stores if you want to eat outside of the park and don't want to "need" a vehicle to get around. If you plan on staying at the parks all day, I recommend this as it beats paying for parking. The hotel did have some free shuttle service but the hours were pretty minimal.

The hotel is nice, nothing over the top, but decent enough if you plan on spending alot of your time in the parks/city walk. The rates right now range from $80 to $100 a day.

Thanks you two! We searched around the Universal area and we ended up booking at the La Quinta Inn. They were fairly cheap as well!
