Hotels at Disneyland

We will be booking our August trip to Disneyland in the next few weeks. We will be requiring two rooms. We are on the bubble between staying at the Disneyland Hotel or Paradise Pier. I would imagine since the Disney hotel is older, the sq ft of the room sizes is bigger, much like the Contemporary and Polynesian are at WDW. We are interested in the view, an comfort level of the hotels. Any one have preference or can share recommendations to guide the conversations towards a hotel?

Personally I don't see much difference between the two. Neither hotel was built by Disney, so there's not quite the detail or quality that you may be used to at the Florida properties. Here's a link to the various room types at the DLR resorts:

DL Hotel: http://disneyland.disney.go.com/dlm/details?id=StandardRoomDLHGuestRoomsAndSuitesHMFPage

PP Hotel: http://disneyland.disney.go.com/dlm/details?id=StandardRoomPPHGuestRoomsAndSuitesHMFPage

Paradise Pier is further from the parks, but we're talking walking an extra 50-100 yards maybe? Think of the Disneyland Resort as urban; neatly contained in just a few city blocks.

I've stayed at both and prefer the Disneyland Hotel to Paradise Pier. Don't expect WDW quality hotels though. Thankfully within the next few months/year the Disneyland Hotel is going to be redone and rethemed.

Paradise Pier has a killer view of Paradise Pier in DCA! My room had that view, and the nighttime is gorgeous! However, it is farther away from the parks. The pool isn't that great either....but it does have a slide now.

I don't remember what the views are like at the Disneyland Hotel. They have a nice pool themed to Peter Pan, and they are closer to the parks.
