Hotel Upgrades

My husband and I have booked a trip to Disney World for the week of December 11th through the 17th on the official WDW site. At the time of our booking, we had chosen the All Star Music Resort. Since our booking we have seen numerous deals out there for a cheaper price than we had paid. We e-mailed WDW and asked if we could upgrade our hotel, and if they had any deals available for a lower cost to the better hotel. The responce we got was basically "we are not in the market to find YOU a better deal". Our question is, has anyone ever been sucessful on getting an upgraded hotel for a discount price upon arrival to Walt Disney World? Thanks for your help!
