Hotel suggestions on I-95?

We are driving to Disney from NC. It is a 10 hour drive (I think). We will leave Nov. 13 and want to drive about 8 hours the first day so we only have 2 hours left on the 14th and can enjoy a full day in Disney. We will be staying at the AKL for the week. We will be taking I-95.

What I need is suggestions of where to stay. What town is about 2 hours (maybe even 1 hour) outside of Orlando, and what hotel would be a nice place to stay. We have two kids 4 and 10 so an indoor pool would be nice. And it should be right off 95.

Thanks!

Why stop with only 1 or 2 hours left to drive? Just drive the extra time and spend the extra night in Disney.

2 hours out from disney is just about jackonsville fl or close around there. I would stop and the fl welcome center get a nice glass of free o.j. and grab a coupon book and get a hotel just outside disney on 192.

also

I just looked at the dates you are going and the 14th of Nov. is a monday and you would hit bad traffic on 95 in morning. The jacksonville area seems to have alot of road work going on everytime I go threw there.

We live in NC as well, and for us it took almost 8 hours (with stops) to reach Brunswick, Georgia, and from there it was a little over 3 hours to Disney. I thought it was the perfect place for stopping overnight (we stopped there on the way down and on the way back). Another hour from there would be just south of Jacksonville.

We have been stopping in St. Augustine so we are south of Jacksonville and can miss the rush hour traffic, it is about 2 hours to Disney and this way you miss most of the Rush hour in Orlando also.

Rooms are normally around $65.00 plus tax, so you may want to consider getting 1 night at a Value Resort then check-in the next day. We normally do this if we can get a room, which we haven't been able to do the last 2 trips.

I'd go possibly for Savannah, GA which is about 4 hours from WDW.... or Jacksonville Beach/St. Augustine Beach area.

What about Amelia Island? They are the last place you hit before Jacksonville. I very nice little town. I would recommend the harbour front hampton suites in downtown fernandina. This is NOT right off the highway.. but worth the ten mile drive.

Bonus for the kids: the pool is on the second floor overlooking the harbour.

Bonus for the grown-ups: it is in historic fernandina which means walking distance to over 40 unique shops, restaurants, and pubs. (It is a very safe, quaint place)

Hope that helps!!

(^ MKT- Mailman is supposed to be @ AC tonight.)

thanks for all the suggestions. Especially the one about morning rush hour traffic in Jacksonville, I didn't think about that. We will look south of there!

Thank you,

We drive from the Hickory area. Don't know exactly where in NC you are from.

We always drive straight through going down, and then stay on Hilton Head Island for a night coming home. (At the DVC property.)

We did break the trip up once on the way down and chose Brunswick, GA. Very nice small town! My parents always stop off in Jax, but I am just kind of uneasy in that city. Just me probably, but back when that gang was randomly shooting people in out-of-state vehicles there, it just did me in. We get through Jax as quickly as possible (which isn't easy as there's usually traffic problems).

We have 7 and 3 year olds, and with potty and gas breaks, it takes us right at 10 hours to get there. And that includes the obligatory hour stopped in traffic somewhere on I-95 in Florida.
