Hotel/resort selection for locals?

So we recently moved to Florida (back in my case) and we are looking for a solid non Disney hotel/resort right in the heart of it all...any hidden bargains or great hotels?

Looks like 100 bucks a night gets you a really clean room at dozens of nice places. Any opinions?

Just two nights and we obviously have a car. Thanks in advance.

Subscribe to the Mousesavers and AllEars mailing lists. They will often have special offers for hotels on Hotel Plaza Blvd or just off-property.

Also don't forget Orbitz and their ability to stack discount codes on top of discounts from some hotels (including Disney).

The Hotel Tonight app may also offer some good discounts on same-day reservations.

When we stay off-site we stay at Drury Inn & Suites. They are highly rated on Trip Advisor, which is why we stayed there the first time. They are cheap, close to the parks, family friendly. They have free breakfast and dinner and 3 free alcoholic drinks per adult per night.
