Hmm... Most of the inexpensive and nice hotels on Harbor Blvd. don't have shuttle service because they are literally right across the street from the shuttle zones. Once you exit Disneyland and walk to the end of the shuttle zone, you'd already be halfway to your Harbor Blvd. hotel.

Howard Johnson's on Harbor is always rated very highly. http://www.hojoanaheim.com/

Candy Cane Inn down the opposite way on Harbor Blvd. is also rated highly. A couple decent Best Western's are literally right across Harbor Blvd. from Disneyland's shuttle zone.

If you look on Expedia and find some of the bigger hotels a mile down Harbor Blvd. in Garden Grove, you get into a distance where the hotels and motels all run shuttle service.

Maybe find a place on Harbor and then check Google maps sattelite images to find just how close it actually is. Walking from the Disneyland main entrance to the HoJo's is often no further than walking from Splash Mountain to Autopia or from Mickey's Fun Wheel to Tower of Terror. Seriously.

Check out the Unofficial Disneyland Information Guide as well. It shows the location of every hotel, rates the rooms, and gives you information on pricing as well. We have used it extensively at DL and at WDW. It's great.

There is a shuttle service (called ART) that travels among the hotels on Harbor BLVD as well, if you end up staying further. We have not found it very efficient going to the parks (it seems to take a long time to arrive), but have used it on the way home to save tired feet. You can purchase tickets at the individual hotels.

Last, although I haven't stayed there, I have heard lots of good things about the Desert Inn and Suites which is right across the street from the entrance. I have heard many good things about Howard Johnson's as well (In fact, we are going to stay there on our spring trip).

If you aren't familiar with the area, many of the hotels on Harbor BLVD are unbelievably close to the entrance. Many also are quite a hike (down by the convention center). Be careful when you choose.

But all of these help avoid the current parking nightmare if you are coming from outside the area. Disney has got to fix that.
