Hot Air Balloon Rides

I've seen the hot air balloons flying over Disney in the morning before and thinking bout booking a ride for this July when we go. Anyone been on one or know what the best deal is. The one ive found so far are these Orlando Blossom tours, though think from reading it they are slightly further away from Disney and just pass nearby. Quite steep at $177.95 but as a one off it would be worth it. What you all think?

I did a balloon trip in Oct 04.

It was ok, we didn't travel far because of the weather conditions that day.

I thought it was fun until we got higher than the trees, and all I could think of was that I was 3,000 ft in the air in a wicker basket!!

The landing is really bumpy and our 'pilot' thought it was 'fun' to try and scare us with horror stories about running out of gas etc..

We flew no where near disney and he told us that it was restricted air space and since 9/11 you can't fly over disney property. We just flew over houses!

There were 4 of us on the trip and 3 wouldn't go again. In fact if I knew then what I know now I wouldn't bother!

Thats just my opinion.

He was a third string pilot for the company you flew with. They dont even use him any longer. He is one of these guys that thinks that the horror stories impress people. I have told him for years that horror stories only show how inept you are.Jeff A Thompson

I've seen the balloons and it looks like they are going over part of the Savannah behind the AKL. I saw them from my balcony on one of my stays there. It looked beautiful in the morning. They look very majestic just floating over the savannah in the distance. Too bad I'm afraid of heights or I would definately do it for the experience.
