I'm visiting WDW the last wek in September with my 2 granddaughters, wendesday to saturday. Should I upgrade to a "Hopper Pass" or plan to spend one day in each park?

If the girls are small and you are staying on property, you may enjoy hopping (are kids are little and we love breaking up the parks). If they are older and you are staying off site and it's a bit more of a hassle to leave and come back, you may choose not to hop. But as Yoda said - best to wait and add later since the option is always there!

My policy is to think of park hoppers as crowd insurance. I'm not planning on hopping but if the crowds warrant it I'm gonna leave and go someplace else. You don't always use your insurance but the peace of mind it provides is priceless :)

Another thing to keep in mind is if you have dining resevations n other parks, you will need hoppers. We use this to got to epcot for some of our dinners whle a another park.

We just got back from our 1st trip with our 2 kids ages 6 and 3 and we did the 1 day 1 park tickets and it worked out just great. At first I really wanted to park hop too since it was something I have always done traveling with adults, but there was really no way they would have had the energy to park hop and quite frankly neither would we. The 1 park per day was plenty. Enjoy your trip.

I think some of the decision may need to be based on the personalities and tolerances of the children in your party- as well as their ages. We're taking our girls for their first trip in December...they'll be 2 and 4 at the time of travel and knowing their personalities- hopping would be a nightmare. So, we're doing one park a day.

In our last trip in June, our kids (5 and 2) did just fine with 1 park, 1 day. We left around noon, napped and returned for the evening. I agree with previous post, that PH option can be likened to crowd insurance, whether it is used or not. However, we did enjoy the savings of the MYW base tix.

Have a great trip!

I totally agree. I had several ADRs in Epcot also, so I upgraded. It's a flat fee per person and rather reasonable, I think, for the convenience.

The first few times we went with the kids, we got hopper tickets, but barely used them. The last time we went, last Sept, we didn't get the hopper option and didn't miss it at all. That was $200 that it saved us. You just plan your meals for the park you plan on visiting that day. If, for some reason, you see everything in that park you wanted to see, go back to the hotel and enjoy the pool. September has shortened operating days as well. We also did the MNSSHP one night, so we did go to another park for the day then went to the MK that night, which was sort of like park hopping. But the $200 we save in not getting that option allowed us to buy those tickets.

Which is why I try to follow the Touring Plan crowd guide for my trip and plan which park is the slowest, which has EMH to try to figure out which to go to and which to avoid. We have also been going the last few times during the 'slow season' (Sept, Oct, beginning of Dec, and Jan) to try to avoid the bigger crowds.

This Oct trip is our first time with no hopper or annual pass. With my daughter going to be almost 5 this trip, we are going to slow down a bit and enjoy it with her as she is at the age where she is excited about this trip ( although it will be her 8th trip) but shes at the age to be looking forward to things, and with us getting a 8 day pass its a good savings and it will make sure we utilize the pool and take it easy.

I agree with the others, you know your family make up better than us, and you know your plans, there are benefits to both ways of doing it you just need to decide which one works for yours.

The 5 years in a row my hubby and I went we always had ph..we used them quite a bit too..this time with the kiddos in tow we did get them assuming we would be finishing AK early (we normally do)..Now reading back to pps I think we may have been a little over zealous in what our kids can "handle"..lol..I am kinda glad we did the ph bcuz most of the dinners we planned are not in the park that we are in for the day..we are eating 4 nights at Epcot (i think, it did the dining so many different times to accomadate everyone in the party i forget..lol)..we shall see..it may be a learning experience for us..I can you tell you that dh is a stickler for "habits" and he wouldn't go without them..
