Hooray for my next trip

My wife surprised me and the kids at breakfast this morning by announcing our next WDW trip will be taking place in October 16.

When we came home last May she repeatedly said we wouldn't go again for 4 or 5 years because of the age of our children, but it seems that she just can't stay away either.

Now I gotta get to planning. I may use a WDW travel agent for the first time. I have heard that they just keep giving you the best deal every time something new comes along between the date you book and your trip. We'll see. We booked last years trip on the spring travel sale and got a great rate at the Poly. Checked this morning and it wasn't too much more honestly, so maybe we didn't get a good of a deal.

Our biggest policy is to stay on the monorail. Buses suck.

Given a surprise trip with 8 months to plan, what do you do?

Also, I just noticed, totally random, that I have been a member here for exactly one year today. Happy Disney-versary to me.

First; congrats and happy anniversary.
Next; we also always stay either on the monorail alternating between the three resorts or we stay at the Wilderness Lodge, the rates are a little cheaper and you can always get the boat to the Contemporary and jump on the monorail there. So that might be a option for you.
Finally; start planning your itinerary, what parks, when and decide where you want to eat so you can get your ADR's and fast passes set up.

I've never went through a travel agent but If I was going to I would check out Kingdom Konsultant. I've read a lot on here about them and I like the way are represented. That's just my opinion though. Happy Anniversary!!

I use a great travel agent.. Kristen with magic carpet destinations She's awesome and honest and responds super quick.. No matter what she will always get you the best deal and if a new offer comes out she will compare to see if she can get a better deal. Although I enjoy making my own fast passes and ADR's and can deff book my own trip she takes the stress and added time out of little things. I love my TA!

We have received a glowing recommendation for Jen and Disney Guru, so we may go that way. I've planned my own trips for years and will likely continue, but our trip is so far down the road I want the advantage of constantly getting the better deal.

Has anyone used Disney Guru?
