I like the idea of having unique castles as well. However, in the case of TDL, I have read that the Oriental Land Company wanted things to be copied as directly as they could, including the castle. And since it wasnt Disney's cash, they obliged. Regardless, I hope Hong Kong gets a new castle.

I'm sure it says on the site it is getting the original DisneyLand castle?

[EDIT]

"Hong Kong Disneyland will be the fifth Disneyland-styled theme park in the world, the eleventh Disney park ever built and the first to recreate many of the exact designs of the original Disneyland in California including its Sleeping Beauty Castle."

From the HK DisneyLand website.

Thanks for the info djmatthews. And to think I could have answered my own question had actually read the website. D'oh! Anyway, I always thought that Walt always wanted things to be on a bigger scale, but due to financial constraints building DL they were forced to scale back a bit. Hence, WDW's architecture is larger in scale.
