Honeymoon

Hi all
I want to spend 2/3 days of my honeymoon in WDW, in October.
I know that's a short time... At least I would like to visit Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom.

Where do you advise me to stay?
I would like something in a luxury resort, where I can go easily anywhere and well located.

Thanks in advance!

I also spent 3 days of my honeymoon in WDW. It might seem short, but you still have time to do your favorite things.

We stayed at the Polynesian, and I thought that was perfect. I felt the same way you do about wanting to stay at a luxury resort that was in a good location. I wanted to be on the monorail route, so that left us with The Polynesian, The Contemporary & The Grand Floridian. Of those 3, The Polynesian theming & dining appealed the most to us. I have no regrets about it - it was fantastic!

In the evening, you can watch Wishes from the beach there. It's very romantic. :)

There are 8 Luxury Disney Resorts -

Animal Kingdom Lodge - In the Animal Kingdom area
Beach Club Resort, Disney's BoardWalk Inn, and, Yacht Club Resort - All in the EPCOT area
Contemporary Resort, Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Polynesian Resort, and, Disney's Wilderness Lodge - All in the Magic Kingdom area.

If you're planning on visiting Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom then the EPCOT Resort area hotels are the most centrally placed. As travelling on WDW transportation isn't really a big deal then any of these resorts would be ideal for your honeymoon - enjoy

I still don't know if I'm going to choose a thematic hotel, depends on the options ( and the $$$ :D ) provided by the travel agency.

Are the Disney World Swan / Dolphin good options?

Thanks for all the feedback, much appreciated! :sohappy:

The swan and the dolphin are by Epcot, where do you want to be?

We were at disney for our 20th anniversary without kids and stayed at the Grand Floridian in an Attic room which faced Magic Kingdom,

It was a beautiful and cozy room, with a balcony that had high sides so you couldnt see or be seen by anyone and it was perfect for watching the fireworks at night, also the Grand Floridian is on the monorail, its a very romantic resort.

good luck!

For a monorail resort -- I'd say the Polynesian or the Grand Floridian. They both have beaches and lots of walking paths. GF would probably have fewer little kids, but either way, you're going to have families and kids all around you. Also, you can't beat riding the cute little open-air boat that travels between the MK-Poly-GF. I'd take that over the monorail any day. But then you can also ride the monorail to EPCOT, which is fun.

If you want an EPCOT resort, I think the Boardwalk Inn is most romantic, and the least child-centered of the three; and it's within walking distance to both EPCOT and DHS. The garden suites are really cute and perfect for a honeymoon, imho, if you don't mind spending a little more $$$. There's a boat you can ride between the EPCOT resorts (BWI, YC and BC) and the parks (EPCOT and DHS), but it's a big honkin' ferry, and not nearly as romantic as the Poly-GF one.

Of the resorts I would recommend, the most expensive is going to be GF, followed by Poly, and then the 3 EPCOT resorts are a little less, and usually the same price as one another.

Congratulations!

Polynesian sounds like the place. Plus, you get the Hawaii/beach honeymoon feel without having to go there!

I am going on my honeymoon to WDW in September and we are staying at the Contemporary. Have fun!

It would be a toss up for me between Polynesian or Wilderness Lodge. Both resorts have a great theming. Polynesian has that Hawaii theme that a PP mentioned and Wilderness has a cozy northwoods theme.

We stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge in a savannah-view room for our honeymoon and loved it. They have great pool and a fantastic in-ground hot tub that's really nice. Have fun!

The Swan and the Dolphin are good options, I stayed at the Swan once and it definitely felt like a luxury hotel! You still get the use of the Disney transportation system and the package delivery service, and you can probably get a better $$$ deal on the room than at any of the other luxury options. And, as Captain Hook pointed out, they are centrally located on the property.

Since it's your honeymoon, if you were choosing between those two hotels, I would recommend the Swan, because it is smaller and a little bit more intimate than the Dolphin.

Grand Floridian is a romantic spot...

My choice would be the Grand Floridian. It's a gorgeous and elegant property, perfect for honeymooners! (And I should know, my DH and I were married and honeymooned there over 15 years ago.) But you'll love being on the monorail, as well. You can save the Polynesian and Contemporary for another time, lol. The GF is your best honeymoon bet!

For the full "Disney effect" you need to stay on the monorail. Grand Floridian or Polynesian would be my choice.
