Honeymoon Package?

OK everybody...

Has anyone here been to WDW with any of the "honeymoon packages"? If so, what were some of the perks that you received? What was is the "goodie" bag that was left in your room? Was there anything that you didn't expect, or any "surprises? Was it worth it?

And...

Generally, how was it having your honeymoon at WDW?

My wife & I are going on July 3 (driving from New jersey) & checking in on the 4th. We've got the "Honeymoon Grand Plan", and it pretty much includes everything.

Your thoughts and memories are greatly appreciated...

We went for 5 nights at the Polynesian. We didn't get the honeymoon package but made sure they knew we were there for that occassion. We got a room upgrade to water view (but it was of the pool) bottle of sparkling cider, a single rose and a note from the hotel manager with an offer of a free bottle of wine at dinner. It was nice but I knid of expected a little more from Disney.

We went on a cruise for the week before and they treated us really special so it was a little of a letdown when we got to Disney. If I had to do it over again, I would definately go with the Honeymoon Package instead.

hehe... not to be rude or anything, but what else would they give for free? I don´t think many hotels would give much more for free... when I worked at Hyatt, I was in charge of doing those special things for guests, and if I knew they were honeymooners, I would put a bottle of champagne and send some strawberries dipped in chocolate or some cake, whichever was available with the chef! If they did more, a lot of people would check in saying they were in honeymoon and get complimentary things! I´m sure that when people actually spend on the honeymoon package, they have to give a lot more... they better! ;) I think it was nice from the manager to offer you a bottle of wine with dinner... :animwink:

Maria, I agree! I didn't expect too much for free and I did appreciate what we did get.

I learned my lesson, if you want to be treated extra, extra special - get the honeymoon package. From what I understand, it's worth the extra money. I knid of regret not doing it on our honeymoon.

BTW, I know a couple who are now on their 10th "honeymoon", with the kids.

WITH KIDS???? What kind of honeymoon is that??! LOL  :animwink:

It´s never too late to do that extra package.... and then you will tell me if it was really worth the extra $ or settle for the extra free stuff! (sometimes settling is worth!, but I hope that is not the case! ) ;)

I had asked a lot of people the same question and the answer I got was that the honeymoon package wasn't really all it was cracked up to be and that the discovery or grand plan packages were much better than the honeymoon. We are going on our honeymoon in January and we decided to get the discovery package because each one of you get so many perks to choose from. Also when you get to the hotel you are staying at you can tell them you are on your honeymoon and they sometimes upgrade or send roses or champagne to your room. I think Disney does a great job making the occassion special. We got engaged in Disneyland and at all the places we went to eat my Fi told them we just got engaged and we usually had the waiters either come and sing us a song or give us a free desert. I was wonderful! I hope you have a blast- write a trip report and tell us how it went!!!!!

We honeymooned at the Polynesian last summer and we decided not to do the package. Some of the CMs we know said it was not worth the money. We agree. We got so much free stuff from the Polynesian staff and everywhere we ate we got free desert and champagne. See the link below for pictures of all the stuff they did to our room during our stay. We ended up with so much champagne we gave a bottle away.

I'll definitely write a trip report (possibly with my wife's help) and post it over in the correct forum. I might also give a run-down of our plans prior to the trip to see how things changed. I'll warn you all ahead of time, we're going for 11 nights, and I love to write (at times)...so it may be quite long.

When I write...I hope you'll enjoy it....:D

Is it July 3rd yet? :brick:
