Holy Land Experience dodges property taxes

Non-profits can charge though. It's like how a school drama group charges for their shows - it supports their shows and pays for their fees and such. There is no capital kept and paid out to investors and such.

Over here a drama group will still have to pay sales tax on the tickets, and a cut to the copyright owners.

God, you know, I'm all for religion, but they arn't above the law. This seems like a struggle to survive rather than a tactic to increase revenue...

Well, it is a religious God centered park. So I guess God knows the true nature of the owners motivation. So I guess that if they are scamming the system, then God will eventually get them, but if not, then they will be fine. Nobody gets away with anything from God, even if it is in the long run. You know the saying, what goes around comes around. I just dont know.

Non-profits must have revunue to operate even if they don't make a profit. Many hospitals are non-profits and therefore do not pay income taxes. This is a property tax issue and since it's a "church ministry" they would be exempt under the law. It has nothing to do with being above the law, just interpretation.

Last night I was driving by and saw fireworks shooting from the park... what kind of church shoots off fireworks on a Tuesday night at 9pm??
