Does anyone know anything about this? I just read on another disney fan board that the last day for any character meal at Hollywood & Vine is 3/23.

I made reservations for a char breakfast for the last week in April there a few weeks ago and the cm didnt say anything.

Is this a rumor or truth??

man that stinks!! so what other breakfast's w/ characters do you reccommend? I've done the princess storybook, pooh & friends at key west resort, and the donalds breakfast at ak.

The day we had the H&V scheduled was the day we were gonna go to MGM.

And I have Ohana scheduled for another day.

Maybe just not have a character breakfast that day and then you'll have more time in the park to go on rides and meet characters. Or... Go to a resort character breakfast. You probably don't want to go to another park for breakfast and then leave to go to DS.

The character breakfast buffet at the Cape May Cafe in the Beach Club has always been one of our favorites. Goofy, Chip, and Dale are the usuals. I don't remember if there are other characters there or not. The food is good, too.

This would place you a boat ride away from MGM or you can walk if you want to.

We ate breakfast at MGM on 12/31/02 at ABC Commisary and it was very good. Full meals of eggs or french toast sticks or a lacate stuff. Great way to start the day.

Wow, I am shocked. This was our favorite place for lunch. Why would disney decide to do this. It was always crowded whenever we went and the food and character interaction was great. My 3 DS will be very disappointed. Is there any way we can ask Disney to reconsider this. I cringe at fighting the masses at the Pizza Planet. It was so nice, cool in the summer with the ac and leisurely to break from the busyness of the parks. :(

Just called about my priority seating at H&V in April....I was told that there would be no characters, but H&V would be open. The CM I spoke with indicated that this was the only information they had...no changes in hours, just no characters at lunch...

Yes, this is true:(

Hi,
Just wanted to post an official update on this. I worked at the Studios today and so I was able to officially confirm this. Yes, Hollywood and Vine will no longer be a character meal location. They will be closed for breakfast and lunch indefinately. They will remain open for dinner (3PM-8PM, I believe are the new hours) and they will be serving dinner only. There will not be any characters at dinner. This is NOT a temporary change. It was first speculated to be for a year only, but has since been changed to indefinately. This means there will be no character meals in all of Disney MGM Studios. The last day for this is Saturday March 22. The servers and cooks will continue to work there evenings while also getting shifts at other locations. Some have chosen new locations altogether. The reason this is happening is (I was told by a manager in entertainment) is that the restaurant has been performing poorly as of late. It is not as busy as it should be" were the exact words used.
If you are unhappy with this change, you can do something about it:
Call and complain. Go to Guest relations in the park and fill out an official complaint form. Write a letter (or letters) complaining about this. Guest complaints sometimes equal change. Sometimes not, though. And with all the cutbacks, this one may very well be permanent:(

Okay, this is stupid now!!!! How much are they going to cut back. This was one of our favorite places to eat and has memories for us. It was busy in February on a slow week. Someone has got to do something before they ruin WDW. I don't want alot of economic nonsense...you don't have customers...you take things away and shorten hours and guess what you have less customers. I find it hard to believe that little cuts in man hours make financial difference for a big company like Disney. I wish I could have ridden BTMR with Michael Eisner I would have given him a piece of my mind.

Oh yea, out of all the characters meals besides Hollywood and Vine....Crystal Palace and Ohanas. I hear great things about Chef Mickeys but I have never been there.

I am also disappointed with this decision. We have eaten there twice, once for lunch. The characters were some of the craziest and most animated I have seen. We all enjoyed the food, as well (and THAT is a big challenge for my family). We were all looking forward to going back for lunch at H&V when we went back in June.

Hopefully, if they get enough feedback, they will change this decision. They brought back early entry (Extra Magic Hour), didn't they?

And, in just about any business or organization, be it private or government, with few exceptions, about 70% to 80% of operating costs are payroll expense. We are seeing Disney do what many businesses have done in the past two years: slashing payroll expense. Very sad.:(

I know that slashing payroll is the traditional cutback way.....I was mad plus I don't agree with that decision when the organization is a basically customer service organization. There has got to be a better way. Lower AP like other theme parks. If people are in the park they are spending money. I am sure that is why Universal and Seaworld offer such reasonable priced AP. Plus there business is not hurting near as bad as Disney because of their reasonable season/annual passes they are kept afloart by locals.

I have a feeeling that another restaurant will now serve breakfast. I don't understand them not serving breakfast there, it doesn't make sense since it is always fairly crowded. As for character meals in the studios...we may not see that.

I'm just mad because in all the times I have been down there, I never even knew H+V served breakfast!

Then I was told that they had an awesome buffet and even better RIBS!!!!

If I was asked, I'd have to say it was not marketed properly, as I never even heard about it!

Bummer!

You are right...it is marketed badly. It is also in a very weird location. I think all the Studios restaurants are in weird places (Mama Melrose's being one of the weirdest). They seem to be in places that aren't right in plain view so people walking by can recognize they are there. But when walking down Hollywood Boulevardyou can't see Hollywood and Vine unless you turn around.

Hollywood and Vine

We've been there for breakfast and dinner. We love the breakfast but thought the dinner was just okay. I am so dissappointed that the breakfast will now be closed. We loved it there!!! There is never anywhere to get a sit down breakfast in the parks. They just opened opened the princess one in Norway and it was okay. But before that there was nothing. Now they take away the one at H&V? Things are getting a little out of hand!
