Just a question concerning Indiana Jones ( which I absolutely love ) . BUT , don't you think after 30 years it could use an update ????

Sure. It could have used an update 10, 15, 20, etc, years ago, but they are not going to do it in this day and age until the crowds start waining.
I am just talking a new story line which could be a pretty quick overhaul . Whenever Disney redoes a " ride " it takes way too long .

Its not a simple as just changing the story. The theater is built for the effects and stunts in the show. So what ever new story or stunts they come up with will have to involve ripping out all the older effects including the floor of the theater. It can be done but not quickly

This show is in need of some immediate love and care, but I would imagine they won’t do anything until the new movie so they can tie into it.

It's a people eater. Right now with how busy the park is, even a short refurb downtime would have a detrimental effect. Until the crowd levels there become more stable, don't expect any downtime.
Or ever. Has the show ever received anything that could be considered a serious update since it opened?

No serious updates as far as I know, but once Epcot is done and the large crowds migrate over that way, there is a chance something could happen. It's a lot of real estate that could be used for something different.
I would love to see it, but I doubt anything will change until we start seeing 1/2 full theatres on a regular basis (eg Tarzan Rocks!)

New here, first post, was at WDW two weeks ago from Alaska and the last time i was at Disney was 16 years ago, same show as was then i believe.
My opinion....the Jumanji series might be a good stunt show option, has the feel for special effects.

With them making so much 2nd team footage for Raiders for so many years...Don't you think they have enough footage to splice it into the film? 😉

I had that thought of Jumanji just off the top of my head, and though you might think its better suited for Animal Kingdom i think its what i would call fresh, I watch the newer one every chance i get and waiting anxiously for the bluray new movie next week. I think it has a good long term porential like Raiders had. Imagine animatronic stampedes...and the Rock has plenty of fans. All of the cast has a good following.
Just need to modify a few bits and pieces of the set.
