Hollywood / Epcot Fastpass Quandary

Hey everyone, my family is going to Disney next Monday (!!). On Wednesday, we plan to split the day between Hollywood Studios and Epcot. We have dining reservations at Via Napoli in Epcot at 7:30 pm. We are way behind on getting Fastpasses, and now the Fastpasses for Hollywood Studios that we would get are in the afternoon (TOT starting around noon, Toy Story Mania starting around 3/4, and RNRC at 5ish). The only ride at Epcot we really care about must doing is Soarin'. We have 2 possible plans:

1) Start the day at Epcot and hit Soarin' right away with no FP. Move to Hollywood at noon and do FP for those 3 rides. Go back to Epcot for
dinner reservation and see the world showcase.

2) Start the day at Hollywood. Hit RNRC right away, then TOT, then Toy Story Mania (all without a Fastpass). Go to Epcot, use a FP for Soarin' and
do other rides, ending with dinner.

We can use more Fastpasses for Plan 1, but that seems more complicated. Plan 2, we don't use FP that well, but is more efficient and possibly less stressful. From what I've read, hitting RNRC and TOT early in the morning without a FP is not too bad, but I'm not sure about Toy Story Mania (we don't really have a desire to do any other Toy Story rides unless we get the chance to). What do you think would be the best thing to do?

Plan 2 sounds better. You can do RnRC and ToT back to back fine ( thats what I normally do ) but then by the time you are moving onto TSMM realize you may encounter a substantial wait depending on the days crowd. When you go to EP Soarin will be one of the prime FP+ desires for the guests. You got it right... EP is the better park for dining.

plan 2 sounds ok, so prob 2-3 hrs of queing maybe 1-2 hrs if quiet then over to Epcot , I personally don’t like to go back and forth in these park, there so big that time can litarely get swallowed up, enjoy though

Plan 2. Get to HS at rope drop and do TOT first. You can do single rider for RNRC, which should still be relatively short that early, since everyone will run to Toy Story Land right away. You'll have to wait for Toy Story by the time you get there, but since that's all you want to do, you'll have plenty of time. Then by the time you get to Epcot you can spend the rest of the day there and relax!

I'm relieved that it's a good option to start at HS without FPs, then move on to Epcot. HS doesn't have extra magic hours on that day, unfortunately. As to hitting RNRC / TOT or Toy Story Mania first, I thought that RNRC / TOT would be good because it seems that RNRC has the longest wait times throughout the day. Toy Story Mania seems like it's never more than 45 minutes, which would be OK.

Thanks for the advice, it's much appreciated!!

How old are your kids? Even a single park hop with no midday break can be rough if you have little ones with you. 7:30 PM dinner could be a recipe for meltdown after that itinerary.

I don't have any kids Cap! I'm the youngest at 27, and it's my brother, parents, and some family friends who are going. We're mainly going to celebrate my mom's retirement.

No probs, but honestly we have just come back from our vacation , and we were in line for Slinky dog coaster ( yes we are in our 40’s lol) it states 50 mins but was more like hr and half , you have to remember also ride slows down to key wheelchair users etc, just saying , Aerosmith has a quick queue in my opinion , they seem to get s lot through and if your standing in the concrete idle part it won’t be to long at all , good luck Mark

Mark, is Toy Story Mania a long wait too? Slinky Dog Dash isn't a must-do for us, but Toy Story Mania is.
Hi there, well we queued a couple of weeks ago, and the line was pretty slow, but we did have a breakdown which lasted for about half hour, it total we must of queued just over an hour. It’s really puzzling as this ride is a continuous movement car ride, but it gets so busy, look if you start at toy story first , you can singleride Aerosmith later if poss.i think tower of terror is single ride to ,but yeah toy story land is busy no dought, and mania is far better that buzz light year spin, get there early and get straight to toy story land. Enjoy

I would start at HS, do your last FP as soon as the window opens, and then head to Epcot, arrive about 6:00.

Wait standby for Soarin’. Wait will probably be about 35 minutes, but you’re only waiting standby for 1 ride, not 3 at HS....waiting for those 3 will be longer than 35 minutes.

Less back and forth and better use of time, and you’ll still easily make your dinner reservation.
