trying to find out when Spring Break is - and yes I know its in spring

Im looking at going the the US for WDW in the middle of May for two weeks - probably leaving on the 9th

Will this fall in line with any major US holidays?

I know its after our Easter Holidays in the UK but not sure about over the pond

Going out of season coz its my Dads retirement and as he's been in education all his life - wants to go out of main holiday time but just after he retires

SO all info is useful

Going at that time during May you should avoid most US holidays. Our Spring Break is generally the two weeks around Easter Sunday with the exception of College kids whose Spring Break is anytime during February and March. However the end of May is Memorial Day. Its generally the last Monday of May. Hope that helps!

Most US schools let out at the end of May - so you should be safe.

And Easter in 2003 is in April - as opposed to the March one this year ... wasn't that weird? :)

The only holiday that I can think of in mid May (besides Memorial Day - May 26) would be Mother's Day on May 11.

That March-April-May period is when I started working for the Mouse.

I think I may of even started Easter Sunday.

Anyways, I call tell you from experience (being there 2-3 times each week) that it is the busiest period at the parks. All summer has moderate crowds, with the exception of the 4th of July, but those months from March till May are very packed, especially any of the holidays.

Avoid Spring Break weeks like the plague - almost every day was as bad as a Holiday.

Test Track Fast Passes sold out by about 11am for almost those two entire weeks straight.

Those previous replies sound a little confusing - some say its ok in May and others find dates to avoid.
As its your dads retirement can you not put it back a bit and try in June (unless you know of some other dates to avoid).
We go in April and everything is quite good until you approach the Easter weekend (whenever it decides to fall) then it gets busy until after the Monday.
Anyway - good luck with your dates.

thanks for that

it sounds okish

we've always been in Easter time - as Dad always had to go in school holidays

so i guess its still gonna be quieter

adn Dad wants to go just after her retires, which is May to enjoy and wind down

so thats why were going so soon after otherwise I would have suggested a little later

But its his holiday - and its nice he wants me and my sis with him :)

thanks for all there bits about this

As long as you are going in early May, you will have normal crowds, nothing really bad. Just try to avoid the last week in May, because that is Memorial Day weekend. There are no other holidays in May to worry about.:sohappy:
