I will be there the week before Thanksgiving.
Can anyone tell me the must see's for Holiday stuff. I know festival of lights is a must for us.
Is the Mickey Christmas Party worth the extra $$. We did MNSSH one year and loved it, can you compare them for me?
Can anyone comment on how busy this week in particular usually is?

Thanks

I've gone that week past 2 years and it's probably one of the least crowded times I've ever been there. Most decorations will be up, but not all yet. Check out the Osbourne lights at studios and if u get time check out some of the resorts they are awesome. Epcot especially world showcase is really cool. You'll have an awesome time, great time of year to visit. As for the MVMCP I've been once and it wasn't really my thing but I'm sure others will chime in more on that.

Sorry to disagree with you @JasonDeyoung...we were there last November the week before Thanksgiving (left WDW for home the Saturday prior to turkey day) and the parks were very crowded, so much so that we were stunned, having visited that same week in prior years and practically had the parks to ourselves. As other threads have pointed out, the parks are definitely getting busier due to the improved economy and, I suspect, people following advice on the "best" times to go with "low" crowds. As more and more families pick these "low crowd" weeks, the parks of course get busier.

However, I do agree with you that MVMCP is not worth the extra money :geek:.

Yeah didn't go last year, was two previous years sorry, so that's to bad. It's a great time to go and never crowded :( but could just be the year, anytime is hit and miss. I went a week last mid July and parks were not busy at all lol so I dunno. But NORMALLY this is a great time and not crowded time to go :)

I think we were there that same week! Also in mid July and we didn't encounter any tour groups (which was shocking ) and had minimal waits for most attractions. Not sure which was more baffling...low crowds in July or wall-to-wall people in November!

I was there the week leading up to Thanksgiving last year, in fact, flew home on Thanksgiving, the parks were EXTREMELY crowded. of course, MK the very most. So much so that this was the first time I've ever just given up and left the MK to head back to the pool. Happy I did, the pool was not very crowded. Even with no attractions offline, everything had a massive wait and it was elbow to elbow, toe to stroller all over.
Though they do oversell it, and it's costly, it may be worth taking in the MVMCP just to give you some sort of chance of getting on MK attractions without a 90 minute wait.

World Cup was in Brazil so a lot of the groups stayed home :) WIN LOL

I personally don't think MVMCP is worth it, but we have only gone mid December. After the last day of the party, the Christmas parade becomes the 3 o'clock parade. Party exclusive merchandise is also sold in the shops. There are other opportunities to experience things that were in the party. In November you would not get that. If you do pay extra for the ticket, don't go to the park that day. You can get into the Magic Kingdom at 4pm for the party. That way you don't pay for a full day then double pay for the evening activities.

Our family was there the first week of December last year. Everything was decorated for the holidays. It was beautiful! I got the brilliant idea of thinking everyone would enjoy our last night at Disney World by paying for everyone to attend Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. We were so excited to go. We paid $700 for all ten of us. Total waste of money. I guess I was expecting something spectacular for the amount of money we had to pay. The parade was cute, but the kids didn't like the free cookies and the lines were long for the popular rides. Seven dwarfs roller coaster was a 2 hour wait. Pirates was closed down for the night and so was the place where you get the dole whip. Several other rides and food places were closed too. The park was really crowded. It was a cold rainy night and the kids just wanted to go back to the motel. It was in the 20's and everyone was freezing. The kids were tired and cold from standing in long lines for the rides. My husband and I decided to stay at the park for the rest of the evening and try to enjoy ourselves while the kids/grandkids all went back to the motel. $700 down the drain. We were so disappointed in paying that much money. The parade was the highlight of the evening but it wasn't worth the money you spend. I really thought the park would be less crowded too. We did have a big family and that's why we paid so much money and it wasn't Disneys fault for the weather being so nasty, but I would never do it again, even if it was just for me and my husband.

I have been to two Halloween and one christmas party.
Imho, the Christmas party isn't as good as the Halloween. I can't tell you why really, there is a much different feeling at Halloween. And I generally love Christmas over Halloween. I would say though, it's worth seeing once, the chance to see the shows is worth it, to me.

Not sure if you got it but it seems the overall consenses of us says Mickey's Christmas thing is not worth it. My wife and I only went once and while we kind of enjoyed it, over all it wasn't worth it save for a few things. When we went we stood in a very long line for a very nice FREE Christmas picture that was mailed to us later. That was awesome but it is my understanding that's gone. It was pretty cool getting free cookies and cocoa all night and the shows were nice. But we literally had to race across the park to catch the shows. Plus it was like they over booked the night we went so the lines were always busy believe it or not. Plus, with the Christmas party only being a few hours and with the crowds we were with and wanting to really get all the Christmas shows in, we literally were only able to ride 2 rides.

I don't think the Christmas party is worth it, in my opinion. I feel like the price is slightly cheaper just for a few hours in the park at night. Rather than actually being able to enjoy the day there for some extra money.

I experienced the Christmas Party for the first time last year. I do think the best part was the parade. I enjoyed the experience and probably would do it again 'just because' I'm in Disney and on vacation. I did expect more, but was also happy that it wasn't too busy and I could relax and spend time with my brother rambling around and such. I do agree that they need some different cookies and drinks. That would be nice for the money one pays.

I do want to try the Halloween Party. But with work, I would only be able to visit for a 4 day weekend (if I push it). Is it worth it?

We agree. We loved Christmas, but there was something so electrifying about Halloween. It was a blast! We would do Halloween again over Christmas.

Go if you get a chance and see for yourself. It is WDW. It is Christmas. It is magical!

MNSSHP vs MVMCP An easy comparison IMHO. The major differences are all in MNSSHP's favor: Rare villian Meet and Greets, Candy Trails, Unique parade entries, Ambient Music, Decorations,Lighting, castle stage show, and fireworks.

MVMCP let me sum it up as charitably as I can: Hot Cocoa, Sugar Cookies, Santa

MVMCP doesn't do special fireworks? Is it just regular Wishes?
